Any of you racer types come across a hi-torq starter for the FWD SR20.
Looking for one with some balls. Help appreciated.

I've never heard of one, and I'm not holding my breath for aftermarket support for this type of item.

Perhaps a starter from a Maxima or newer B chassis car will be interchangable?

VE starter?

I know the P10 starters seem to have more TQ than the SE-R ones.

My P10s both have NO problem turning it over even with an almost dead battery. The SE-R's starter struggles more.

Can you say if the P10 is a compound gear starer as opposed to a direct drive SE-R.

Problem is that with 12 and 13:1 CR the initial starts are OK, but if I get problems to start the repeated attempts suck down the battery quick.........like say 20 seconds total starter time over three attempts. Holding the throttle wide open and having the ECU "start maps" callibrated to kill the Injectors after 70% TPS allows the motor to turn over faster.

I know that it has less trouble after 140,000 miles starting my 11:1 CR VE than the SE-R's starter ever did on lower compression motors.

I do remember my reman starter for my other P10 (racecar) said "high torque" on it.
