Yes, ABS on the Classics does absofrkinlutely suck. Easiest way to disable it is to pull out one of the plugs from the ABS control box on the passenger side by the firewall. I don't even think it matters which one, because any fault in the ABS system will render it inoperative. And *yes* your brakes will work fine, ABS is designed to be fail-safe.

This was on my 91 SE-R which I don't have anymore, and it's been a while. Just look for the ABS control box right by the firewall on the passenger side, there's a few square (grey?) plugs which plug in to the top of the box.

ya, that's the thing i meant on the passenger firewall.
not only does it suck ass, but it made my strut bar not fit

I had a fault witha blown engine control fuse, and the abs wasnt working, but it made the engine check light come on which was annoying. Maybe it would be nice to fit a switch on the dash so you could flick it back on for the wet?? I was giving the brakes death the other day, and with the pedal mashed hard down, it did feel a little soft. Ive fitted new disks, pads and fluid when I did the turbo, but I havent really stressed them before now.
