Just wondering when most people tear out 3rd, except Naji who I think tore out 4th N/A :rolleyes: I know it can vary slightly from the type of driver you are, but let's say I don't shift then side step the clutch.

what makes gears fail is not instant WHP= ok gears are going to go bye bye now.
What makes gears break is fatigue from strain. The constant abuse all adds up and makes the gear(s) break. Of course if you have alot of horsepower then it will add up much faster.
It all depends on how you drive it.

speaking of gears going out, is there a way of finding out if your tranny has 5th gear pop out??(its not in the car), i got a tranny and i was wondering if ild be able to tell by taking it apart if 5th gear is bad, or will i only be able to find out once i plop the thing in there?

when i put out 320whp on my t28 i destroyed third. but when i did 424whp with my 60-1 i never had any problem, as of yet.(knocks on wood!!!!!!!!!)

I don't think its metal fatigue as the main reason. I personally think its the initial shock when the clutch grabs. Case in point, Ron Acevedo's car which has put out 400+ whp has not broken 3rd gear yet. That car has the HD pressure plate with a street disc. My theory is that the puck clutches combined wiht a high pressure plate like the Xtreme shocks 3rd gear way too much and breaks it. HotshotSR20 is just an exception because he drives his car HARD.

nah terrin, its from my mad horsepower. i spin the tires into 6th!

yeah..... higher loads decrease life.... Shock/impact loading is less predictable but it definitely breaks things very fast. I've been trying to go easy on the shifts... trying to preserve the tranny.
