: T28 setup
Ok well after going for a ride in a fellow se-r owners boosted 200sx. It's got me thinking. I have been thinking all along about getting a T3/t04e, but now after speaking with him a bit I'm under the impression that a nice T28 setup would be enough. So that brings me to my questions. Would I be ok to run a T28 on my DE? I'm aware that I would need all the other upgrades that come with it, but say 12lbs of boost. Would it be ok, or would I be better off spending the money on a DET then swapping the turbos? I was thinking a nice T28, 3" Exhaust, my S3 cams, and a JWT ECU would probably be a nice setup. Good for low 13's high 12's. Am I anywhere near correct? One last question. What (roughly) would be the cost to aquire all the needed parts to complete the kit? I know I'm looking at $4000+ for Fmax. TIA and sorry for all the questions.
spdracerUT 02-14-2002, 03:55 PM With the t28, you'll need a Cobra MAF, bigger fuel pump, and BIG injectors... I think the stock GTI-R are like 444cc? You'll need bigger so I guess just get the 50lb injectors or something.
MarkSR20 02-14-2002, 04:17 PM You dont need 50lb injectors. It is just a question of how much horsepower do you want. You can run 370's and have a program set on your computer for them. You can also run the stock fuel pump but I heard that you should upgrade that anyways. With a bored stock maf andreas said the readable horsepower was 285hp. Good luck
Andreas Miko 02-14-2002, 06:08 PM Where is the love MATT. You know whats going on with that car. If you want to keep your stock engine lets run a FMAX manifold with a the biggest T3 turbo we can get, my special program with bored MAF and 370 and 12 PSI of boost and that it right there. Or which I like better get a BB motor put GTIR turbo on it and run 18 PSI with some GTIR inj in a rail that I will be making. Well I will be finished soon with the Black 200SX SE-R that you got a ride in and you can make up your mind then. I promised Dameion that his car will run 12.2-4 with this set up at 18 psi.
spdracerUT 02-14-2002, 07:27 PM Well... you know how it is... you say 12 psi now... but you'll want more later! I figure better safe than sorry so go with bigger injectors. But yeah, it all depends on how much power you're looking for. But shit, if you're down where Andreas is, just let him take care of you!

Dre, bro.. You're the Nissan man. That is without a doubt in my mind. What I am trying to figure out is what route I would be best suited at attacking. My only thing is I want to stay at a modest budget. I have some other things that I'm also trying to purchase. I think I'm leaning most towards the same setup as Damian. I've been trying to get as much knowlege as I possible can regarding boosting so I don't go into this blind. I've had MANY conversations with fellow Nissan owners, and at the end I've came to the same conclusion. I would rather have you build my car then anyone. But with your work comes your prices, so I'm just trying to see which setup would best suit me. I like the idea of a BB, with the Gtir setup on it. However, I'm not a number man such as yourself. I don't have all the connections at selling my motor when I would swap out. Yeah I could sell some things off of my motor but I wish I knew a definate number so that I could shoot for that. I realize you're a busy man that's why I haven't called amist all my debating. I would be ecstatic if I had a car that would even run in 12's, but with that I want a REAL everyday driver. Honestly bro let me know what you think. I was starting to think about the T28 setup, and possibly a 50 shot for sticky situations, but you know best bro. Let me know.
se-r pastor 05-09-2003, 09:09 AM so 285 maxes out a bored MAF and 4 bar?
dougnosser 05-09-2003, 09:43 AM In that neighborhod, yes. Right around 300 is the magic #.
chrp2nd 05-09-2003, 10:20 AM isn't 18 psi on a t28 pushing it a lil too far?
Bobby Digital 05-12-2003, 06:26 PM Matt any new thoughts on what your going to do? I would be looking at pretty much the same setup that you described if I were to do it. What is the price total that you estimated for a T28 setup done properly? Damn I remember back in the day when i owned a '97 sentra i would read your posts all the time on sentra.net......the whole board envied the looks of your ride :D
Wow! That's an OLD post. Well anyhow up to date. I now have a BB DET installed in my car. I have to go pick it up Friday!!
Bobby Digital 05-12-2003, 11:16 PM just out of curiosity what may you go with that setup? Just a stock BB? What is your expected whp and 1/4 from it?
Well I wouldn't say stock BB:D . Reason why I went with this setup is cost. You can run the stock TMIC, if you have to. And also I could run open DP if I HAD to. I got the motor for $1300. Then the install for $800. That alone "should" give me roughly 200hp.
Keep in mind the motor is mostly stock at the moment. All I really have done to it is bored MAF, and a 3" DP. But I have S3 cams waiting to go in, and pullies on their way. I really don't want to put these on until I front mount the intercooler. And get a FPR.
Once all is installed, and I schlapp a 3" exhaust on I'm aiming for 260-270hp. That should be enough to bring a nice smile to my face. If it doesn't I can always go the GRT route and put a 75shot on:cool:
Bobby Digital 05-13-2003, 12:46 PM ahh gotcha....definately leaves room for upgrades then :D Did you get any kind of deal on the install or is that the average price that you were getting from people? The BB has the T25 right?....did you keep the same turbo? Were in FL is Vero Beach? I'm looking to move down there in a year for grad school and I've heard land and housing is reasonable anywhere besides a place that ends in 'beach' :D
Vero Beach is roughly halfway between Daytona Beach, and West Palm Beach. I like it.
Yes, it has the T25. I'll be keeping that for a little while. Of course I got a good deal on the install:D
TREYDEE 05-14-2003, 08:42 PM Matt your gonna Love your car!!!!!
SE-R Newbie 05-15-2003, 12:43 AM I hear you Matt,
I read your post and I am running in the same problems/decisions. I have been looking on the forum, talking to other turbo SE-R owners, and bugging the shit out of Jay with my 1001 questions.
My concerns are are not so much cash but what power I am looking for. I am not rich kid but I am working my ass off with tons of OT to save up cash for my turbo upgrade next year. I hate to have the engine build with soo much HP that I am scared to drive it or not able to handle the power. That is why I have really put thought of going with the BB, T28, S4 cams, big injectors, and Jay's secret speed secrets. I am looking for at least 300 hp at the wheels and the ability to put the smack down on alot of cars in the Tampa area. I have been watching the other cars at the track and seen the faster cars are running 12 to 12.4 in the 1/4 mile.
My goals are 300 hp at the wheels, at least mid to high 12's in the 1/4 mile (with slicks), and at least low 13's (with street tires).
What do you all think about my goals? Am I close, way off, or right on the money?
