I recently got some rear windows and a dash from Mark Chiles (thanks again), and got around to putting in the dash yesterday.

The dash was pretty straight forward, there were many screws holding it in though, everytime I thought I had them all, there was another one. The whole dash swap took me a little over 2 hours, it was worth it, no more having to look at a big crack right in the middle. :D

I didn't even know it was cracked Serb. Glad you got her all back together. So how many "extra" bolts did you have left over??? If it was me I'd have a few!!! LOL :D

Another happy Mark Chiles customer! I bought so much stuff from him, I can't even remember it all. I thought about buying the dash, but thought it would be a huge job. 2 hours doesn't sound bad at all. I know one pf the cars Mark parted out was a classic with just 1400 miles, wonder if that's the dash you got?

Mark was one of the original SE-R enthusiasts. I remember reading an article he wrote way back around '92, in (I think) Grass Roots Motorsports about modifying SE-R's. At the time, there was next to nothing available for them, and he worked with Koni on developing shocks, and I think also did a mandrel bent exhaust system, plus intake, brake pads, etc. He was the '91 SCCA SOLO 2 D Stock National Champion, but sold his SE-R and moved onto other cars. He recently sold a boatload of stock parts he had accumulated over the years to support his racing. Most of the parts were sold extremely cheaply, he used a slightly unusual method to sell them. He was selling stuff 'Free to a good home' plus packing & shipping (usually ~$20 or so) depending on the physical size of the part.

I bought an FSM from him about a year ago, and picked up a bunch more stuff from his garage sale.

One of Chiles' Aztec Red fenders is on the driver side of my '93. Albeit now painted the proper black, that is.

And, like Serban, it came from one of Chiles' garage-cleaning episodes last summer.

Way to go, Serban. Hope to see the dash in May when you come up!

The dash is in great shape, as are the windows, which he was just going to throw out. Good thing I have them a good home :)

And he gave me the dash for an excellent price too, good deals like this one dont come around too often.
