Well guys i have been having issues with my tranny lately . It has been making whinning noises and chattering sounds at idle. The chattering is intermittent sometimes. if i depress the clutch a few times it will go away. Drive for a while it comes back while idling.
My car is turboed and has been for about 2 years with several track visits in the low 13's. I think this might be a sign of my tranny needing replacement. The clutch is a clutchnet and is about 6months old so i doubt its a clutch issue but i may be wrong. I had the tranny pulled out and 3 of the bolts thats hold the flywheel in came off that was fixed since. Any ideas of what to do . Anyone with a good tranny without popout for sale?

I have this chattering to but from what i have heard all performance clutches chatter at times . Some may be louder than others cause of extreme type pressure plates. I had a extreme pressure plate and 6puck disk in my NX and this thing use to chatter for no reson but as you said if you depress the clutch that chatter may disappear.

i had the same problem with mine right after i did my gti-r swap. it was a brand new throw out bearring from clutchmasters. just order a oem tob and call it a day that is what i did in the end. the chattering that dissappears after you touch your clutch is your throw out bearring is bad. trust me you will want to get this fixed if you like to run your car hard all the time, this was the reason why i destroyed my third gear. the throw out bearring gave away and never really let me completely shift into third so when i went to shift it wasn't ready thusly third gear was as smooth as my ass when i was done with that run. the whining on the otherhand i have no clue. but the tob is a easy fix.

Yah i would say my TOB is bad since theres some chirping sounds coming from there. On the other hand the chattering sounds like theres rod knock or some fragments flying around in there unitl clutch is depressed. Im using a 1.6 cable *** the 2.0 one was too long. So anybody got any leads on a tranny=)

make sure theres fluid in the tranny:D seriously, my drain plug fell out and i drove 50 miles with no oil in the gearbox, it was making some hellish sounds, and now just whines like a BITCH, i think the bearings are shot?

yeah the tob will make all kinds of noises. but i agree whining will become apparent when your gear oil is low. i would get the tob fixed asap or you will end up like my second tranny, destroyed. and when you kill a gear and pull out the axle's out i will tell you it is a smell like no other.

I had a knocking noise from my tranny when my last,very last, absolutely,definitely last clutchBastards clutch broke and a spring popped out of it. I went through 4 of these pieces of shit. They wouldn't gimme a refund. Kept on sending me new junk to try out. I can do my clutch in about an hour and a half now.

My tranny fluid was just changed a couple of weeks ago with lightweight redline shockproof. Theres approx 4quarts in there i can remove drain plug , i can "stick" :>P my finger in there and feel the fluid.
