Hey folks,
My buddy has a pacesetter catback system which he and I think is anoyingly droning. Anyways, not sure how much it will help but we want to give it a try. We want to weld on a glasspack in the mid pipe. So... my question is what is the longest glasspack you can fit on the midpipe in a classic?

Second question. What is the ID and OD for the Pacesetter catback piping? Just want to make sure to get the right size glass pack. I read stuff on Naji's exhaust but his is a B14 which may be similar but just want to make sure.

Thanks in Advance,

Train

Be sure and use a perferated core resinator...I think the pacesetter cat back is 2 1/4, correct me if I'm wrong....Idunno about the length though....I think 24" should be enough....

Walker makes a good glass pack core that is perforated, it their Magnum line. Many parts stores sell walker products so they should be easy to find. I think people have used 24 inch cores on B14's, not sure about the B13's but judging by pictures that size should fit.

Here's a link that shows pics. of a custom exhaust being made for a B13. SHould help a bit.

The pacesetter catback is 2.25" inches as mentioned earlier, and the 24" glasspack will work fine...it should quiet it down considerably.

FWIW, I recently installed a Magnaflow twin tip muffler and had the same problem. I tried the Walker (Thrush) Magnum perforated core 24" glasspack, and it didn't help much. (The car was very quiet @ 75 mph in 4th, but droned from 60 up past 75 in 5th. So, I installed a 26" louvered core, and the sound level is finally decent - slightly louder than stock.
I do not race my car, and it is my daily driver. I love the look of the Magnaflow, and it is all stainless steel, but I damn near went back to stock just to make the thing liveable again.

Just my $.02 - gs

That is the key word as to why it quieted down the exhaust. While it reduces output volume it also significantly increases backpressure, so while it is not optimal for performance, it is a better silencer so to speak.

All you gotta do is drive around with your CAT dissconnected for two weeks then you realize how loud your damn engine is! Then the perferated core mufler/resinator combo sounds sweet!! :D ;) :p
