I'm looking forward on buying a 200SX SE-R. My question is which year should I get? Are all the years the same?(ODB sensors) Which year is the fastest?

no, the 98 has the OBDII emissions. the 95-97 has the advantage of having more aftermarket parts available. but chances are you'll get a car w/ less miles if you opt for the 98.

Which year is the fastest?

ooo, that's a loaded question. IMO they're all equal stock. now the 200sx vs. sentra that's also subjective.

Get a 1997.

You get LSD, and easier ECU swap.

SE-R.net probably has a lot of what you're looking for:

Note the Charting the changes (http://www.se-r.net/about/200sx/changes.html) page.

They came *** LSD? I did not know that. So only 97 and up had LSD?

All 91-97 SE-R's have LSD. 93 and up don't have 5th gear pop-out.

no, the other way around. 98-99 did not get the VLSD.

IMO 98's look like crap as well, no LSD =big thumbs down.

id recommend a 97 , no chance of bad cams and LSD ta boot!

Hold up....

IIRC....

95-96 200SX's all had LSD - however not ALL 97's did (I know 98's didn't).... (Or so I was told when I went tranny/axle shopping)

Also- aren't all 94+ cars ODBII - I thought the 98's just went to more emissions crap?

As a side note - 95 and 96 had a charcoal canister located below the fuel filter, however 97+ (200SX 1.6 and 2.0) had a plastic canister located at the rear drivers side of the vechicle (that gets water in it and fails, or gets cracked by road elements since I've replaced my old 98's and my 2002 G20's...)

AFAIK, sr20's went the OBDII route in 98 on the 200, sentra and 97 in the g20. thats why JWT hasn't produced an ECU for the 98-present cars, because of OBDII.

all 94+ are OBDII. For example, my 95 is OBDII

Thats what I was thinking - I think that they changed the ECU in 98, however the 94+'s are ODBII, I mean hell my dad's 94 lesabre is ODBII (Use the ODBII connector with the snap on unit to get readings)....

Anyways - I thought that the 91-93's were odbI?

Anyone??

Dudes:
95+ are OBD2 cars.....94+ on the G20.....why do you think we like the 94 G20 ECU? :D

Did somebody say 98's are ugly? I get no respect. 98s have black window trim, a solid grill, and bubble lights in the rear! Take that! and that! A better looking car was never made!

On the down side: 98s have extra crap on top of the intake manifold, no LSD (bummer man), and an extra long cat with a weird rear 02 sensor (making buying an cat back exhaust a bitch)

All that said. Get a 95-97. You're life will be easier.
Cheers,
Charlie

OK heres the deal.

91-93 = OBD1
94-present = OBD2

200sx SE-R from 95-97 all had VLSD.

98+ have no VLSD and some extra emissions stuff.

95-97 = more mods avaliable.

some 96s have what is know as slow ass 96 syndrom. Most of the time this is fixed with cams but not always.

the 98 200sx SE-R is like the red headed step child. No ECU and the exhaust is differant so you can not get most exhaust to fit.

If I were you I would buy a 95 or a 97. Or you could be a real man and buy an NX :)
