I put an aftermarket tach on my B13 XE and I was curious where my redline is supposed to be? My car is all stock so the rev limiter is still going to kick in. So where is the redline on this motor and where does the limiter kick in? Unless my gauge is not working right, (which wouldn't surprise me a bit for a $20 JCRipme ghetto tach setup like I have) I'm only revving as high as 5K, is that where the limiter is set? Thanks for any help.
Should kick in at 6800 RPM's. If you haven't already heck out www.sentra.net for more GA16 info.

Thanks wes. Nice site by the way. I was out driving a little bit ago and I did manage to get it to around 6K but it's really screaming at that point, I can't imagine pushing it anywhere near 6800. Could be that my tach isn't reading right, but considering I'm idling at around 600 the tach seems to be ok. I had to spend a lot of time ohming out wires to find the one that leads from the negative side of the coil back to the ECU. The wire that you could use to sense tach for a remote start doesn't have a strong enough signal, it would only rev to like 1K on that wire. So It turned out that the green wire with a yellow stripe from my coil goes to a connector where there is a resistor (probably to protect the computer from the coil)and then the wire coming out is a blue with a white stripe. Now, my aftermarket tach is meant to go right to the negative coil wire, do you suppose that resistor could be screwing up my tach reading? I was trying to keep from having to run a new wire all the way out to the coil, hence why I was tracing wiring for quite awhile in order to find one inside the car that went to coil. I'll have to run a leg wire from the tach out to the coil before that resistor and see how the rpms look then.
Just run a temporary wire to see if that solves the problem. I actually have the limiter raised on my car to 7300. ALthough it's pointless to drive it that high because it doesn't make any power that high. I would see if the rev-limiter kicks in at 6800, hitting it once isn't going to be a huge problem, but you'll know when you hit it, I would do that after you run that wire to see if that solves the problem first.

Well, no luck. I ran a test wire from the tach to the negative side of the coil and no difference that I could tell, so apparently that resistor isn't affecting the tach any. So maybe it's just me, not feeling comfortable revving that high.

Well Wes, I got over it this morning. I finally put my DIY CAI in and it's quieter than my DIY WAI was and so now I'm not so freaked out by revving the motor up into the 6K region and man, there is some power up in the 5K-6K area that I'd never known was there prior to having my tach to let me know where things are. :) Amazing, how a car wash and cleaning your car make you feel about driving it, I think that did it for me more than putting in the CAI. :) Getting to 80MPH while still in third is a new thing for me in this car. :) Yep, I'll just be getting used to driving this car the way I ought to and It'll be time to start shopping around for a Classic SE-R.
