: Auto g20 ecu in 5spd B14
jer_760 10-12-2005, 07:11 PM Does anyone know what codes will be displayed if you use an automatic g20 ecu on a 5-speed b14? I just completed my 5-speed swap and have quite a few codes that have to do with the tranny. I'm not sure if the g20 ecu I have is an auto or manual. I will post up the codes later on when I get the time. :biggthump
Wes 98200sx ser 10-13-2005, 12:27 PM Did you disconnect the auto computer from the driver's side footwell? That will help-- it will get rid of the OD light at least
viprdude 10-13-2005, 12:31 PM hm i didnt hear of that. but how do u do it?

No, I just left it plugged in. But I will unplug it as soon as I get back in the car though. :biggthump Maybe one day I will actually fish all of the excess wires out.
Hey Wes, do you think that since we just soldered the two black and green/orange wires together to get the car started, that is making it throw any codes? I will pull the codes here in a little while.
Jeremy
Wes 98200sx ser 10-13-2005, 04:45 PM If you just soldered them together and bypassed the neutral switch then yes it with throw a code 1003 for neutral position switch. You will be able to get rid of it for a couple days by resetting the ecu but it will come back .
Wes 98200sx ser 10-13-2005, 04:49 PM viprdude - was that directed toward me? If so and your asking how to disconnect the auto computer, just pull out he plastic panel to the left of the driver's foot(one screw holding it on) and it unplugs just like the ecu.
did you do an auto-manual swap as well?
if that comment wasn't directed towards me, then nevermind.
twisted200ser 10-13-2005, 09:54 PM You will get code 82 or 84 a/t line failure. It will always be on with an auto ecu in a manual car
viprdude 10-14-2005, 12:32 PM wes, it was to you. i haev a manual b14 and i was decieved in buying a auto g20 ecu when i was told it was manual. So i get that pesky CEL all the time because there is no auto tranny in my car obviously.
thrive_808 10-14-2005, 02:29 PM Mine throws a code for the auto trans sensors. That's it. It's a auto G20 ECU in a M/T 200sx.
And you can look up the complete ECU list somewhere in the web from JWT. That way you can crossreference the PN to see if it's from a manual or auto.
viprdude 10-14-2005, 02:36 PM yeah. i have that code chart for all the nissan ecu's from JWT if anyone wants it, pm me with ur email.
Tonynissan 10-14-2005, 03:16 PM actually, you have a ecu from a manual g20 in order for it to work properly with the b14 200sx 5 spd
Wes 98200sx ser 10-14-2005, 04:48 PM viprdude - the auto computer is a separate unit than the ecu, so if you car is a stock manual, then you wont have the auto computer to begin with.

There are a couple other people who posted right before you that say it works. Please rewrite your post correctly or shed some light on what you know. This is how there is so much wrong info on here.

Thanks, but I have that list and the ecu I have is not on there. :(

The auto g20 ecu DOES work, it just causes the check engine light to come on, which is what mine is doing right now. But, it DOES WORK. Just to clarify if anyone reads this thread and wants to us an auto g20 ecu and doesn't care about the cel.

jer_760 10-18-2005, 03:24 PM Ok, these are the codes I pulled.
Code 82 (crankshaft pos. sensor) I have the adfab 8lb. flywheel which is supposed to not throw that code. I asked them if they have install one on a b14 and the said yes, and it did NOT throw the crank pos. sensor code. So, I don't just don't know
Code 84 (A/T diagnostic comm line) <---I don't know what the hell that is. Any info?
I unplugged the auto tranny control unit in the drivers side kick panel and that got rid of all the other codes I had except for those two 82 & 84 codes.

twisted200ser 10-18-2005, 08:09 PM 82 & 84 welcome to my world
jer_760 10-19-2005, 12:27 AM 82 & 84 welcome to my world
That doesn't sound very comforting :squint: :(
Wes 98200sx ser 10-19-2005, 12:50 AM 84 can be gotten rid of with a manual ecu. as far as the 82, you can try getting a new sensor in case the one on the manual was damaged (mine was - cost about 40 bucks) if that desn't help, then you may be stuck.
jer_760 10-19-2005, 01:16 AM Thanks Wes. You have really helped us quite a bit throughout this swap. :biggthump
Looks like I'll be in the market for another g20 ecu. www.car-parts.com, here I come.
