if the oil stain is fairly new <= 24 hours you can use a product called "zip wax" that will generally take it out, HOWEVER if its on rough concrete you will probably be stuck with it, if its on smooth concrete(e.g. garage floor) you can use gas put it on a rag and wipe away and it should come out, then finish it off by rinsing it off with water

remember gas is flammable and the vapors are explosive USE with CAUTION

heres what i used to do in the shop... put down cat litter/ oil absorb let it sit a while and then rub it in with your shoe.. I mean really grind it into the concrete... then brush the excess off and let it sit overnight .. next day hose it off... if its still there, then go to Autozone and pick up a gallon of concrete cleaner...

........what I do is the kitty litter as mentioned, then run to the self-service car wash and fill a gallon jug with the 'engine-cleaner' pour it on and cover with an old towel and let sit for the day, spray it off/out the next day...........

..........gear oil DOES leave a slight ghost..........thats the low-buck way, but you get what you pay for and use as directed, ambient temp is the biggest factor, Jason

caustic soda work the best, eats oil and grease, read the instructions and warnings on the product... i cant stress that enough.

and it will eat paint ect and what ever else it gets on, so be careful, we use it to clean the workshop floor once a year. come up a treat, then paint it.... saves the oil stain on the concrete. in the future

theres also a thing called driveway restore. ou pour it on and it turns to like a sawdust texture you sweep and the concrete is clean.http://www.pour-n-restore.com/oilstain.htm

use a pressure washer with a turbo nozzle (the spray pattern sprins).

i just cleaned my oil stains (that were about 9 months old) by using a cup of that soaking slution you can buy at ur local auto store (chemichal carb cleaner/parts wash) put that down scrub reall nice for a good 10 min then put about a cup of gasoline down..... scrub away then get some paper towels and pick up everyting.
then get a cup of tide or some sort of detergent and repeat the process it worked wonders for me.!
