Hey all, I need to replace my belts (everything but the timing chain), would you trust any other generic brand other than Stealership Nissan stuff? Any slack, bad-fit issues anyone's heard of? TIA -Danny

When I've bought cheap generic belts in the past I've had to change them every year - they would come apart in that short of a time.

However my OEM belts, or GATES brand belts have been good for 10 years on my 240SX, and at least 3-5 years on other cars. (not that it is recommended to go this long).

If you go 'generic' get a Gates branded belt. Otherwise just mail order them from a discount Nissan dealer (Courtesy, Scottsdale Infiniti, www.nissanautoparts.com, www.nissanparts.cc, etc)

I had two reasons to replace the belts on my Classic. First, I had never replaced the stock units on my ten year old Classic. Second was my recent purchase of UR underdrive pullies. I initially wanted to replace them with Gates brand belts, but my local shop didn't carry them. I'd read some favorable reviews about Goodyear Gatorback belts from SE-R Mailing List members, so I went with them instead. So far so good.

Personaly id go with the nissan stuff. I know we put the gator backs on my friends ranger, and they are loud. Those thing growl like mad. I put some generic advanced belts on mine last year and they make a supercharger whistle at higher rpm's. Im going to replace them with OEM stuff as soon as I can. I dont know what the cost difference is since even these were pretty expensive, but i think its probaly worth it. Ive had more squeeking and noises from these than the old belts ever did.

I got both my gates belts from napa for about $21. I've had no issues with them, besides they seemed to streach a little after I first put them in. My buddy used the gatorback ones, and they seem great. I don't hear any noise so far, they looked a touch more heavy duty than mine. His car is quite loud though. Unfortunately, we've only had them on for a couple of thousand miles, so I can't give any durability reports.

I have the two belts you need. They are Nissan OEM belts. They were on my car for a very little time. I just installed my UR pullies and I was forced to buy new belts. PM me if you are interested. They are going for very cheap!
