: JDM SR20DE swap
white91nx2k 11-07-2005, 11:13 PM hello all, i just bought a 1991 nissan nx2000 for 500 bucks with a blown motor. i just bought a jdm sr20de off ebay, so im going to have alot of questions, i hope i came to the right place.
first off is 500 bucks a good price for a 1991 nx2000 5 speed t tops? even if it does have a junk bottom end?
secondly, where can i find a nose for this car, mines all cracked up.
next, i just wont a jdm sr20de from ebay, i noticed in the feedback that some people were upset with the engines and the company said they didnt know how to use a jdm engine. what exactly do i have to do to put this in my nx. i just pulled my motor out last night, so anything i need to switch over will be on the engine stand, it shouldnt be too bad.
anyone know any good articles on this or have any good info? thanks.
evilsr20degg 11-07-2005, 11:16 PM ok firs toff welcome. searching is your friend its a little button above your post.
second i have a front end you can buy off of me look in the mechanical oem part out section
third swap all the sensors over and drop the motor in.
I would be really scared to buy a JDM motor from ebay. I would just say it has rod knock, and make them pay to ship it back.
anywhoo, search around with terms like "motor install" ect ect. Make sure you swap over all the sensors, and I would do a new waterpump while you are at it.
Serban 11-08-2005, 09:31 AM $500 is a good price for the NX. Don't even bother going to the dealer for the lower lip, it will cost more than you paid for the NX, search around junkyards, sometimes you can get lucky.
As for swapping parts over, you'll see once the motor comes in. If your state has emissions you'll want to swap over the US manifold, if you dont have to worry bout emissions, just drop that motor in, take the tops off, and go cruisin
DZZSE-R 11-08-2005, 07:13 PM Definetly do the waterpump when the motors out. Didn't do mine when I did my bb swap and a year later it went out. Its a bitch to do when the motors in the car so I would do it while the motors out and any other maint. things you can change while the motors out. Take your time too. Goodluck with swap.
white91nx2k 11-08-2005, 11:55 PM wow thanks for all the replies.
so my computer will work fine with these manifolds?
the injectors and all will work fine or do i need to swap those?
other than that just switch all the sensors and i can put it in, thats great! i thought i would need all these gaskets to switch stuff over, i am definatley not worried about emissions.
do i have to put all this smog stuff and egr back on? will the motor still run ok without it?
i guess i will do the water pump, it seems like a pain once its all installed.
oh and whats up with this dohc motor having a timing CHAIN, thats not something ive seen before. should i worry about the tensioner or anything on that, they guarantee this motor to have less than 60,000 miles.
thanks for all the help guys!

I would only swap the injectors if the fuel rail or injectors is damaged. sometimes they pick the motors up by the fuel rail and damage it. The EGR and smog stuff can not be put on the new motor, there is nowhere to mount it. The motor will run just fine without it.
Timing chains are fairly common. Even the new hondas have them. I suppose you could swap the tensioner, but I never have, the motor should be fine.
white91nx2k 11-09-2005, 10:25 AM excellent, so i should just be able to drop this new motor in and plug in the thousand sensors that these motors have :biggthump
mc0029 11-09-2005, 10:45 AM where in NE Ohio are you?

white91nx2k 11-09-2005, 02:36 PM do i use the US distributor or the JDM distributor?
pertuzian 11-09-2005, 06:15 PM Use the US distributor.

nx2thousand 11-09-2005, 07:09 PM I've seen 2 NX's that still have the front bumper and front spoiler in tack, They are both in the Cleveland area though so it would be a bit of a drive for you. I actually asked if I could flat out buy one of the Nx's from the junk yard but they said they don't sell the whole car.
El Gabito 11-09-2005, 07:40 PM Do these motors ever come with any accessories? In specific PS pump?
I have purchased several JDM motors, they all had PS pumps, some have starters and stuff too
white91nx2k 11-09-2005, 10:23 PM yeah mine was advertised with ps pump and water pump, ill let you know exactly tommorrow when it gets here.
oh BTW, why do all the ricer kids around here get so excited when i tell them im getting a JDM engine??
