Damn We are close... You 12.0 118.77mph on your sig... But here is what I posted to the Miata Board..

Well I took it to the track and got 11's!!!!! Unfortunately I only got 3 passes. The place was packed, This was on Pump gas, same map as last night, only 15lb (instead of 16.5lb). 215 60 14 BFG Drag Radials on stock 97 alloys.

First run I did my usual burn out. Got to the line. Tacked it to about 5000, slipped the clutch and went. WAY TOO MUCH CLUTCH. I smoked the hell out the clutch. It spun the whole way down the track. I let off 5 or 6 times trying to get it to grip. I thought it was wheelspin till I got to 3rd gear. I was granny shifting to save the tranny. That run was 12.49 @ 115mph. I went again and did not do a burn out and launched easy. Too easy, this time I bogged it and ran a 2.1 60ft. The clutch held. Car went 12.30 @ 118.2mph.

I had been there for two hours and only gotten two passes. My friends were there and they were cold and wanted to go home. I told them I would go home after my last run. I went up, no burn out, launched at about 3500, 1.88 60ft (bogged a little) Car lost traction when I shifted to 2nd. Went to 3rd (slowly), Speedshifted to 4th (figured last chance) and ran a 11.95 @ 118.8 mph I know I could of done better. The clutch slipped a little in 2nd and I lifted for almost a second on the datalog.

Either way I am happy. Head is getting assembled tomorrow, and put on either Sunday night or Monday night. I am driving to Houston Next weekend for a AutoX, then to San Antonio to Hang with Ric for a week. During that week we are going to tune the car for pump gas and race gas. I am going to run high octane at the World Import challenge in Two weeks. All should be fun...

Just though I would let yall know...

Thanks Hassan and Archie for holding out in the cold for me to run a damn 11.

BTW We were talking about something funny. The car was a Pain in the ASS to get into the 13's a year ago. It took over 10 drag strip trips to finally get it. Once I had the power for 12's it was pretty easy, and 11's took 3 runs. Maybe 10's will be this easy....

Who would of ever though that 1 year ago I had a low 14 sec car and it progressed this far in a year...

lol...I couldn't make it out there man... Joey broke the distributor in the Vette, and we couldn't find parts for it..:( I realy wanted to see it run!! I know those people out there HAD to be trippin on that!! They're not used to seeing fast imports at that track! They're all stuck on the old "gotta have a V8 to go fast" syndrome...lol.. I can't wait to get out there with mine. Time for a new clutch? Who else was out there? Any other imports? Sorry we couldn't make it man...Maybe next weekend.

Wow:eek: Well you pretty much eliminated the "Miata's are for girls" presumption. Man that thing has to be a blast to drive. Great times!!

Danny--

GREAT job. Sounds like with some clutch tuning, mid-11s or so are easily within reach.

Is this a 1.6 or did you swap in a 1.8? It is a 90 model I know, which was a 1.6 car stock (if I remember my Miata history correctly).

Fill us in! I've had the idea to do an early Miata, turbo-style, just like yours for a couple years. I'd heard horror stories of the 1.6s not liking too much boost.

Again, GREAT job. Very impressive.

The only Miata to have a common failure is 99+ Those snap rods left and right. No one has figured out why yet.

It is a 90 body with a 95 1.8 junkyard motor...

why dont you just get a nice set of slicks and be done with it? thats what i would do, it seems that you have way exceeded the limitations of drag radials!

Good Job! That damn thing is moving!

Drag Radials Hook VERY well on Miata's. The 10 sec Miata Runs them and has hit 1.5 60ft times on 225 drag radials. Slicks are too hard on the drivetrain.. I have broken 3 trannies already. One blew syncros real bad, one knocked every tooth of of 2nd gear, and the other broke the countershaft. All of those happened on street tires...

I am getting a Puck clutch now to hold the power.

Going to tune for as much as I can get on pump gas without water injection. Then I am going to add race gas and tune for higher boost for better e/t's. Nice thing about the TEC II is that it is easy to swap between maps....\

Honestly bro that is a awesome time. I have a friend of mines who has a boosted Miata. His is not as fast as yours but we have this awesome rival going on. We race all the time but he can't catch me yet but he gets closer everytime we race. I would hate to run into a Miata like yours. Once again CONGRATS!!!

One thing sucks about RWD though. It can be DANGEROUS on the street. When you do have wheelspin it is VERY hard to keep the car straight. 2nd gear is just downright scarry in my car. The car will jump across lanes, almost hit cars, and scare the hell out of the passenger, and myself. It does make for a very fun ride though :D When you have FWD it will spin alot more, but atleast you can keep it straight...I will still keep my RWD.

There is a Lady here in Louisville that ran a 11.7 at 117 in her Turbo Miata. Her car put down 323 RWHP I don't remember the Torque numbers though. Nice times Turbo Miata.

There is a Lady here in Louisville that ran a 11.7 at 117 in her Turbo Miata.

I remember seeing that car at Car Wars at Mt. Parkway Motorplex (Clay City) back in November! It seemed to be a bit temperamental, IIRC. She had trouble getting it to start, banging and popping all over the place.

Then, went out and ripped off a 12.xx right in front of me, before my 13.89 run.

Cool car. :)

I know her. Her Name is Jen (aka Miata Mamma) We have almost Identical setups. She got to 331hp at 17.5psi. I am postive I could of done it, but ran out of dyno time.

Her best E/T is 11.7 @118, and best MPH is 122 (dont know et low 12's I think, but it was bad wheelspin though)

I dont know about the car being tempremental like that though.

BTW she just bought another toy, a V8 Miata. She is keeping the turbo though..

I have a Factory Torsen LSD in the car (got from a salvage yard REAL cheap). I am about to go to a KAZZ clutch diff, or a Factory Non Turbo RX7 Clutch diff (cost reasons). I am afraid of turning the Torsen into a nice powdery mess (just like Jen did)
