: Project RWD SR20DE Turbo Update
NissanTuner 11-14-2005, 10:23 PM Ok, I admit. Im realllllly lazy when it comes to getting this thing done. But just to let you guys know, I've made some forward progress.
Behold, the new Helix Jethot coated manifold!

A lot of the aftermarket Ebay manifolds suck arese when it comes to welds, and support. Check this one out though, I think its pretty trick.

Not tooo shabby!
Note the JDM Tyte Turbo Elbow. A steal for 20 bucks! Compliments the T28 turbo nicely.
So now I'm pretty much just sorting out the trivial stuff.
A recap on some of the goodies the car has recieved already, for those just tuning in.
-New Nissan Waterpump
-370cc Injectors
-Stainless steel injector cap bolts
- Helix Tubular Exhaust manifold
-Aftermarket Stainless steel Exhaust elbow (JDM for shizzle)
- S14 T28 Turbo
- ARC BOV
- Blitz Air filter
- Unorthodox Underdrive pulley
- SR20DET fuel pressure regulator
- Autometer Phantom Boost and Water temp gauges
- Exedy stage 1 clutch
I'm probably forgeting some other stuff, but its late, and monday night football is on.
Stay tuned!
Rittmeister 11-14-2005, 10:45 PM Looking good! Be careful how high you boost that S14 turbo - I've read that one (or both?) of the wheels are ceramic/composite/not metal, and that they tend to come apart after a certain boost level.
Good choice on the O2 housing; I went with the divorced-wastegate type at first (HKS ripoff) before finding that it wouldn't clear the steering column  Eventually I ended up with one much like yours.
SERprise In WV 11-15-2005, 11:33 AM Tell us about the oil drain on a DE engine. Is there a spot on the block similar to a FWD DE engine that you drill/tap in similar fashion?
Some of us just haven't looked at a DE RWD engine up close and personal.
NissanTuner 11-15-2005, 06:42 PM exact same spot as the FWD, im using the exact set up you FWD guys do when running turbo oil lines. Only thing I'm not postive on how im going to run yet is the water lines... Im leaning towards using the throttle body coolant lines.
charlie2020 11-15-2005, 06:52 PM Where did you source the RWD SR20DE from?
Harris 11-16-2005, 02:11 AM Looking good! Be careful how high you boost that S14 turbo
I thought that issue was on the BB S15 turbo, not the S14 one.
Where did you source the RWD SR20DE from?
Search NissanTuner's posts, noob!
J/K, Charlie! :D
charlie2020 11-16-2005, 02:16 AM **** born again noob...
NissanTuner 11-17-2005, 05:15 PM cough jhot exports cough
sourcing those damn manifold studs and bolts is a pain in the ass around town.

If you want to go the easy route, the Nissport adapters work just peachy. I just made the T3 that is on the KA24DE in my 240 'vert water-cooled, using the Nissport adapters. The entire operation took me less than an hour from wheels up to down.
NissanTuner 11-17-2005, 06:58 PM Either im an idiot ( which is highly probable ), or is the adapters you speak of not listed on the site? I looked and only say the nissport oil adapter. Got any pics or your set up?
goneturbo 11-17-2005, 09:05 PM Nice pics...
NissanTuner 11-21-2005, 01:34 PM Update! I got the starter out of the way to try to get the oil sending unit off. But holy cannoli, is it on there. I need the special wrench, anyone know what size it is?
charlie2020 11-21-2005, 01:38 PM Its a special socket they sell them at just about any autoparts store.
NissanTuner 11-21-2005, 02:00 PM so its a universal oil sending unit size?
charlie2020 11-21-2005, 02:48 PM Yeah it is, it actually has 3 steps inside of the socket to fit 3 different types of sending uits atleast thats the type I have and I picked that one up from Vatozone..lol

srbybre 11-21-2005, 07:16 PM ill give you one piece of advice...you follow it or not is up to you.
cut the main flange into four pieces so it can expand when it gets really hot.
trust me it helps. even if its not a cheap one, or especially on those ebay manifolds that have stainless steel pipes and mild steel flanges. diff expansion rates. will cause cracking if pushing hard.
trust me on these pints. i have one of those manifolds sitiing in front of me with 6 cracks in it.
NissanTuner 11-21-2005, 08:12 PM as in, all the way cut? it comes kinda pre cut already.
thanks SERprise, im a freakin moron. and thanks charlie, i'll look into that. hopefully i can just rent it, i dont NEED one forever
blairellis 11-21-2005, 11:39 PM Take a crescent wrench to the oil sensor. I've NEVER had any problems getting them off with one of those. Just make sure you give it a good yank as IIRC they are thread locked in there.
