If I'm completely missing this information somewhere, then forget it...

But how much money should I be expecting to bring with me? Does it cost me money to get my car on the track? Obviously the hotel will cost money, I can figure that part out on my own, but does the convention itself cost anything? track time cost? etc... I don't have a problem paying for any of it, I'd just like to have an idea of what kind of extra money I need laying around for that weekend. Again, if i missed this info somewhere, sorry.

We haven't figured out the exact costs but I'd figure something like this:

Dinner @ Meet n Greet - cost is up to you - high/low
Hotel @ track - probably somewhere in the $80 range?
Track event on Friday - probably something like $175
Lunch at track - figure on $20 or so (expensive, crappy track food)
Dinner probably on the way to the hotel or at the new hotel Friday night - up to you how expensive it is
Hotel for Fri/Sat nights (probably somewhere in the $100-$120 range)
Entertainment Friday night, Saturday, Saturday night - again, up to you
Picnic (food ticket, raffle tickets, t-shirt) - depending on what you get, figure on probably anywhere from $40 to $100?

So I dunno... ballpark - $800 - $1000. A lot depends on whether you want to eat at a Steakhouse, Chilis, or McDonald's and what you do on Saturday to entertain yourself and how much you drink. I know some guys that would spend $800 on drinking alone! And they know who they are

That's why you stay at the ES, to keep the alcohol costs down. :)

Even with the free booze at ES, I know people who could spend a LOT on alcohol. I remember going out for those 2 or 3 hours in Dallas and getting like $300 or $400 out of the ATM. And that was just one night for a few hours! We invented the double-fisted LIT that night :D

The most I've spent was around $1000, and that was flying to AZ (2 people), and I had car rental. I don't spend a lot on food or drinks either.

because you're cheap

Seriously though, I don't want to deter anyone from coming based on money. You can do it cheap - just eat cheap, share your room with lots of people and drink less

Hotel: $300 for the weekend (spoon with 3-4 people to reduce costs).
Food: $40/day (free breakfast).
Gas: $40-80 for the weekend (more if you're coming from out of state or something).
Booze: $0-40/day (light drinking Thursday night usually, use the bar to get started).
Random SERCA crap: $100.
Track: $175.
Rental: $0-100 (Run your own car to renting a Shaguar).
Airplane tickets: $300 roundtrip from CA.

So, anywhere from $235 just to show up and eat (and spoon with 4 guys) to $1500 if you're a baller and want to be alone. The SoCal guys will probably drop about $600-700 for the weekend.

You could always do what we usually do when flying coast to coast and rent a car :)

There's not really a website right now. As far as vendor info, I'll make sure that the person coordinating this gets in touch with you. Thanks!

One thing for sure...if you did that, I think you'd win the award for the longest drive :) Even though you wouldn't be driving most of the trip, that is still hardcore!

Anyway, the most I think I've spent on a convention weekend is about $800, for the 04 convention in Los Angeles. And that's only because about $450 was for gas to get there and back :)

My cheapest convention was probably 00 in Dallas. That was because it was my first one, I was a poor college student, and I wasn't old enough to buy alcohol. I think I got away with about $350 that year.

As far as shipping the car from the Netherlands goes...just a guess...but my friend shipped a car he bought in Okinawa to Orlando, and I think it was about $2000. But that was only one way. However, Japan is much further than the Netherlands, so a one way trip would probably be much cheaper. If you do decide to do that though, I'd look into it ASAP so you can take care of the customs forms for temporary importation. We'd hate to see your car get held up in customs during the track day!

To keep the costs really low for me, I'll be heading down to the place 05/04/06, and leave after some track time on 05/05/06. That way I'll only have to pay for one night's stay at the hotel (or sleep in the car if no one wants to share rooms), meet some forum members, get to have some fun at the track, and head back home. It'll be tough, but it's doable.
