: cd player types
NX-DET 02-25-2002, 09:56 PM ok, ok, I probably have the only nx in this forum to not have cd player yet.
what kind does everyone have?
most important is i want to get one, but i don't want to have to use one of those ugly ass spacer plates, but everyone that i talk to says that for an nx you will need it because whatever is behind it cannot be moved or cutout??
anyone got pics?
corbendallas 02-25-2002, 11:04 PM I have the sony Xplod system in my car... 50Wx4. Pretty nice.
I put mine in with no extra crap used(except the connector), and it looks good.
Cjburn 02-26-2002, 12:52 AM I am just going to say that there seems to be alot of NX's from Wisconsin on this board. It's actually creeping me out. LOL
Anyways I always loved Eclipse stuff. But I haven't really scoped out how deep our decks are, considering mine still doesn't have one. WI pride baby
I'm using a sony explode too, fits in there nicely.
hooligan NX2000 02-26-2002, 01:15 AM I still dont have one up front yet either man... i want one, but i have a sony 10 changer in the trunk :)
RUTH'LESS 200sx 02-26-2002, 01:52 AM ok, ok, I probably have the only nx in this forum to not have cd player yet.
Hey glad to see i'm not the only one without a good ass radio. I'm still rocking the stocker shame on me. But as far as a choice goes i want a Kenwood Excelon head unit they are simply the best and you don't have to worry about taking the face off as it rotates to the back and is hidden.
pln81 02-26-2002, 07:48 AM go to www.crutchfield.com. They have a thing where you put your vehicle in and it tells you what they have that will fit into your car. Mine bolted in no problem.
Happy Hunting

MadNX 02-26-2002, 10:02 PM I think I might be the only person with a AIWA. The deck is 45wattsX4 and sounds good. The preset channel buttons are kind of inconvient but what can I say it was cheap but good.

Astra 02-26-2002, 11:41 PM i have a sony explode too. it slips in real nice. u dont to buy a kit for it, just need to scroo in the brackets or what ever thats called. the best thing i like a bout it is that it has 6 out puts and u can control the sub out put level
NismoSER 02-27-2002, 12:25 AM Aiwa is made by Sony ;)
Pretty much any regular DIN aftermarket head unit will bolt right into the stock location with no alterations needed. Both my friend John (nismoNX2000) and I are running Pioneer CD players. They work very well, almost never skip, and I've never had a problem with them.
Little tip: Buy the extended warranty, if you get it from Sears or Best Buy. I know I know, its not worth it, but in actuality it is!! For Sears (2 years) and Best Buy (4 years) your warranty will cover anything that goes wrong with the CD player.
This is the part where you scam them! Just bring it back within that time period (say, when a new model comes out) and say yours doesn't work anymore. They aren't gonna check to see if it works, they'll just say "ok, pick out one of equal value". Pick it out, get the warranty again , and voila! Every two years, YOU get a brand new CD player....or amp...or sub.....or whatever! ;) You didn't hear it from me.....
I did that for like six years, but then I slipped up and missed my new cd player by like five days. it really works, and they let you upgrade, pay the difference for a better one.
tissue 02-27-2002, 03:47 AM ive got a Clarion :)
its where the stock tape/radio is. The stock CD Player is still in the dash, so it sorta looks like I only have a stock stereo. Fits easily, and is very easy to look at (you dont have to look too far from straight ahead)
MauiBlueGride 02-27-2002, 06:32 AM You know - for some reason I only buy Clarion :-P
Chris
Clarion Corp. of America PC Tech.... hehe
geeio 02-27-2002, 09:08 AM ive got a kenwood excelon piece its nice i paied 220 for it and it retailed for 280 i got some cupon in the mail for being a good customer at sound advice it works great and has built in crossovers and sub level controls and a remote and it sounds great
evilegg 02-27-2002, 08:12 PM i got the new panasonic with dot matrix display. it fit in perfectly but i custom installed it so that it was alittle harder to steal. i mounted it so that to get the whole thing out u have to completly remove that annoying airconditioning wire to have enought room to pull it out. i have had 1 experience already in my old car of my cd player gettin ripped out.
Son Of Skyline 02-28-2002, 03:55 PM I have an Alpine CDA-7977....It went in without any problems at all. I'm not sure what the deal is with the spacer plate...I've never even heard of that :)

Too freaking funny! I never thought about that one. I did opted not to have the extended warranty. I wish I had now! I bought mine at Circuit Shitty! :p
