Sorry if this is a dumb question...bhut i think I remember having read somewhere that the top speed of a 200sx se-r (I have a 96) is limited to 109mph...heres the question...I have a completely bone stock '96 ser...I have on several occassions topped 135mph in it...like I said, completely stock...if the speed is indeed limited to 109mph, how is it possible that my car can do this?

Your speedo is way off.

No way in hell a bone stock 200SX can do 135mph unless you've just driven off a cliff.

since were talkin top speed here....i did 147 the other day on the freeway boy that was cool!...but my car is an NX.....

NO way is it possible. The computer has a speed limiter at 109! If your speedo said 135 you have a problem.

Well...thats the thing..I know for a fact that I have indeed gone 135 mph+...on two occasians I was driving with a friend that also topped the speed...thats why I find it weird, I know its limited at 109mph, but I also know that I have gone that fast. That's really odd... your car SHOULD be limited to 109. I hit an indicated 115 when I had the stock ECU but that's just a little off. Certainly not 135! Damn, sucks about the accident. I need to sell my stock fogs if you need them. Unfortunately, the right side one is missing that little black trim piece which screws on and that looks like the one you need. Well, if you want them, lemme know.

are you the original owner? Maybe the person before you replaced your ECU with a JWT? That's the only explanation that I can think of...

I had the same thing happen with my lady's 98 SE. And I know that the speedo is not wrong because we were driving side by side on the freeway when my car cut off and she kept going. Do you guys think that maybe some of the cars they just don't have that part of the program. :confused:

I'm not the original owner, the orig. is my stepmother who would not have replaced anything in the car. And if it were a jwt ecu my rev limiter wouldnt kick in around 7200rpms still :p

Its good to know none of this makes much sense to you guys either..only things on the car that has been replaced since '96 is the starter and clutch..

i was gonna say that maybe its ur rims & tire setup

maybe someone switched u to a g20 ecu
when i put in my g20 ecu it wouldnt like to go higher than 7000 until i put the cold air extension peice onto the intake

I can hit 135 too with stock ecu hehe :P
just some detail

my speedmeter is kinda fuct up and it goes off some times but when the car is on high speed or revs its usually working

it works 85% of the time but if u hit a hole or hit the dash it goes off or visversa it comes back to life hehe

so this one time im going like 80mph and it goes off and i got a friend with a 200sx se-r that has his speedmeter switched so it turns off and it doesnt limit him.

so im just thinking and i got a big ass straight up ahead so when im flooring it it comes back on and i hit it so it goes back off and i kept going till i went 6,500 RPM on 5th gear which is like 130mph
but i could have gone more but the speeedmeter came back to life and cutted the fule and oh well...it was fun while it lasted hehe :)

how bout for classics??? are there limiters for the classics also cause i also went 135 on my classic???

Nope no limiter. I also hit 135 in my classic before my ecu.
