This is for anyone who has had some alternator troubles, and in sum cases is alot cheaper than replacing *** alternator.
The other night i took the heat shield off of my extractors coz i decided it needed a paint.
To cut a long story short, took aboput an hour to get the dang piece of metal off, anyway, when i put it back on and turned the key, Nothing, no warning lights or n e thing. car started fine but seemed to be missing, as is a plug lead wasnt on properly, the tacho on the dash wasnt moving either, i revved the engine, and a relay behind the dash kicked in and the tacho went.
I checked the battery terminal voltage, only 12.3 volts with engine running.
took the car to the auto sparky the next morning. 4 hours labour and $200 dollers later i find out its a bloody fuse!!!
Turns out the metal cover had shorted something on the alternator out!
So if you find you alternator dusnt seem to be charging, chech the main battery fuse first (75 Amps or so) in the fusebox closest to the battery, might save you some hassle. And Coin!!!!
