I want to get hood scoop for the car, a subaru hood scoop to be exact but i was wondering where is an ideal place to put one of these. I want it to help with cooling. Right now i'm NA but eventually i'm gonna go turbo. Would it be better to place the scoop up front , in the middle or towards the back. This is both for style and cooling issues.

If you're planning on going Turbo and using a TMIC, place the hood scoop directly over the valve cover because that's where the intercooler sits.

I'm not gonna use a TMIC, i'm going fmic I just want the car to get rid of the heater quicker than if i didn't have a hood scoop. I think i'm going to put it closer to turbo when i get to that point.

Y not go for the complete Subaru look and get two flat scoops on the side and one big one on the top....
check out www.i-club.com and there vendor section to find scoops.

ON another not if you are going FMIC y cut up your hood????

You could always get a better set of fans that will pull the hot air out.... Just keep in mind that the engine will always run hotter than you think no matter how much holes you have in the hood.
Thats what happens with my subie.

Peace

I agree, if you're not using a top mount, there really is no reason to cut the hood up...but if that's really what you want to do...its your car :)

Instead of a hood scoop. Why not come up with a way to "vent" your engine bay.

I'm more interested in how to got the Vent in the front of the car that's what i really want to do get more air to the radiator, and i like the idea of the vent in the front to allow the cooler air to hit the radiator. I also wanted the hood scoop for a little more style and to be different.

Exactly! It's not enough to force more air into the engine compartment. You also have to let the hot air out.

Try it now, I got my hand slapped again for stepping over my daily transfer limit again.... Geocities won't let you link pics through their service either.

Between the headlights I cut an opening out that feeds more air into the radiator and enginebay and the hood vents just vent out all of the hot air.

With a turbo, if you don't cut the hole, it will deform your accelerator cable, not good.

Thanks :)

I cut the holes in the hood and lined them up, I had a bodyshop rivet it down and mould it in.

I'm quite happy with it, the only thing is that when it rains there is alittle more water going into the car than I would like.

I had to make some deflectors to keep water off the engine.
