These pistons are for the VE head 90 mm with 16ve valve reliefs and are flat top.
The stock 16ve piston weighs 331g the 90mm ones below weigh 338g




I sent in a 16VE piston for comparison so they could get the valve reliefs correct. They have also notched the skirt for oil squirters.

What do you mean by "metal content"?

I ordered the gasket set from Mossy with the Metal headgasket I will send it to Benson (they are doing my sleeves) and they will cut it along with sleeving, boring and final honing.

Hmmm, that sure looks like 2618 low silicon alloy, not 4032 high silicon alloy.

Wouldnt expansion be more of a concern in a forced induction motor with higher cylinder temperatures? How is expansion more of a problem in a NA motor than a F.I. motor?

Typically the 4032 is used in lower powered street cars, NA or FI, because it can run with tighter piston to wall clearances, which reduces noise caused from piston slap. The silicon content also provides a sort of lubricity resulting in better wear characteristics for a street motor. The downfall of a high silicon 4032 piston is its ultimate strength is 20-30% less (depending on the percentage of its silicon content) than a low silicon 2618 alloy forging.

You can visible see the dark blackish grey silicon grains in a 4032 alloy forging. This would be most visible on the underside of the piston since there is no machining there. Most 2618 forgings will be a pure silverish color. Anyway, maybe it's just the picture....

Thanks. I called cometic but it seems they will only comfortably do 89mm tops. Its not that the SR cant handle it, I guess it has to with the tooling. They are working on setting their embossing back to more suitably work with a 90mm bore in the near future.

Mine were made at Cometic but I have a friend there and he did it for me. It cost a little money because it was the first time and only time they did it and they had to be xtra carefull.

As far as who I know I cant say as I might get them introuble but like I said I have them and they are done by cometic.

90mm bore Cometic x 2 in my possession as well. Got them three months ago.
Must be your Miko, cause I asked for 89mm and got 90mm.
