: gt28rs oil restrictor

This one is for the future searchers / because I'm pissed.

The oil restrictor sold by ATP turbo will NOT fit the Nissport oil adapter block. As I understand it by using the marvelous search button, the oil restrictor is threaded 7/16 x 24 (NOT LISTED ON THE ATP SITE), whereas all the nissport holes are 1/8 NPT.

I purchased the oil fittings from Yahozna (sp?), which look great, but of course it includes a banjo fitting for the turbo oil inlet. If you use the atp restrictor mounted in the turbo inlet (which it didn't want to screw in when I checked it, but I'll trust them that it fits) - then you can't use his banjo fitting. If you use his banjo fitting on the oil inlet, then you can't screw the damn atp restrictor anywhere.

GRRRRRRRR.

Now I'll have to search the internet for a 7/16 x 24 to 1/8NPT adapter to fit into the nissport adapter. (homedepot doesn't have ANYTHING in a 7/16 size)

Fair warning for future GT28Rs upgraders - you can buy the yahozna kit, but you won't have a restrictor (=bad), or you can buy the atp restrictor and you'll have to piece together your own line kit. You'll need a -4an fitting for one end, the hose, a fitting for the other end, and a -4an to 1/8npt adapter to screw into the nissport adapter - if you use it.

Oh yea, and ATP rips you off for $11 shipping on the $13 part.

the oil restrictor from atp is designed to be screwed into the turbo using a ss oil feed line.

Why not run a -3 line and not worry about a restrictor???

Because I bought the fitting kit, then ordered ss lines, additional -an fittings and the atp restrictor, it was all supposed to just fit together no problem except for this "small issue". I'm out about $150 or so already, I would need to take a loss on all that and order new fittings, new lines, and I still couldn't be sure I wasn't over-feeding the turbo.

I went to home-depot, lowes, and advanced auto after searching the internet for about an hour looking for the adapter I need.

Autozone was closed, so I'll have to try again tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers they will have the 12mmx1 to 1/8 NPT adapter I need.

doesnt that only apply to t3/t4 setups? even with -3 you still need a restrictor for t2 turbines, IIRC

Listen, you NEED to go to a hydraulic supply shop, I use Aeroquip. They will have any fitting you could possibly need.

All you need to order is a NEW feed line which is not insanely expensive. Then you can sell off the banjo setup and recoup the $$$. I use the ATP fitting with a -3 line and the Nisport adapter. No issues at all!

Alrighty.. well 45 minutes and $3.15 later, I have my solution. They didn't have a one-piece solution, so what I wound up with is a 7/16-24 female inverted flare to 1/4 NPT adapter, then I bought both a straight and a 90 1/4npt to 1/8npt adapter.

Dom's auto parts in Opelika is where I sourced it.

Finally, I can put my car on the road this weekend!

While I am glad you found parts that is not the path I would have chosen. More adapters in the oil supply is just one more place for a potential leak....
