I guess I'm not really a newbie, but I'm thinking about a new engine for my 91, and I just wanted some info. From what I've gathered here, I think a JDM one is the way I'm going to go. Where is a good place to get one, and what is the general price range? I live in OH, so shipping would factor into it (I'm guessing $100-200, but I could be wrong). As far as install, should I take it to a shop, or is it do-able by 3 guys (2 of which are very good with this kind of stuff--the other guy (me) is mainly in charge of going to Taco Bell and finding tools)? Any suggestions or other information you guys could give me would be really helpful. Thanks.

The swap can be done by the three of you. mine was done with just three guys including myself. It was like taking the DE out and put it back in. There will some part that needs to be removed from the DE into the DET. The only hard part is when putting in the motor in the car. Thats when you need all them hands. anyway, the swap was fairly easy for me and it was my first time doing it. The guys that helped me didn't much bout nissans either, at the end it was successfull. Now my engine was order by a shop in Milwaukee (they went to Chicago I think) anyway make sure you get what you pay for cause when i got my shit, i was missing intercool piping, and other little shit. So i did have a though time doing the swap.

hope this help.

I just did a JDM swap with a freind of mine into G20. Neither of us really knew what we were doing, but it wasn't that hard. I order the engine (less than 40,000 miles) through a company called soko (www.soko.com). They are located near Chicago. It was 550 plus $75 shipping to Indianapolis - but had to be shipped to a business address - they'll work with you here. You'll want to swap the intake and exhaust manifolds from the old engine as the JDM one has different sensors and no emissions (EGR) stuff. It will take some time and don't forget the vacuum hose for the brake booster (engine doesn't run so well with this bad of a vacuum leak). Definately get a factory service manual.

Label all the vacume hoses or make a diagram of where they go before you take them off.
