silversx 02-27-2002, 01:18 PM I'm interested in removing my AIV, as I just got a HS Gen5 header. Does the AIV actually do anything? It looks relatively easy to remove. The 95+ SE-R's have no AIV, so it must not be too important. Has anyone removed the AIV system before? Will i get a check engine light after I remove it, or will my performance be hindered at all? NX$paniard 02-27-2002, 01:53 PM good question...im interested in doing the same... in fact i noticed most older sr20's that go turbo dont have that clutter of the aiv and that other little box that has something to do with oil ventilation i think (not sure). what do you do with all the excess lines? do you just cap off and plug off fittings? or do they get relocated so you got room for the turbo? n-e 1??? silversx 02-27-2002, 02:00 PM my HS header has the AIV hole plugged, it looks like the system is easy to remove, there is a small metal line that runs from the AIV all the way back to the intake manifold, I could plug that up or something...I think Ben98SentraSE removed it on his NX...care to chime in, ben? Son Of Skyline 02-27-2002, 04:06 PM The AIV is simple to remove. I just capped off the end facing the front with a K&N crankcase filter. The thin line that goes to the intake manifold is connected by a rubber piece, and then connected to a plastic T fitting. I just plugged the T fitting with a thin screw. Everything runs fine :) spnx 02-27-2002, 04:09 PM AIV injects air into the exhaust at idle to help keep the cat lit. If you have a JWT ecu, you can remove it entirely. Even if you don't, it probably won't cause any serious problems.
