The lever that connects the tranny to the clutch cable snapped on me today. I called nissan today and the said that they have never fixed it before. My question is how do you get it off?

Well man I know exactly what you're going through. I'm guessing you have an extreme PP. Anyhow in order to replace the piece you have to open up the tranny. Fortunately the part is only abour $40. But the labor involved is the part that gets costly. I believe it cost me $280 parts, and labor. Before you get the new one in you should take and get it reinforced to help prevent it from happening again. There's quite a few of us on this board that have had it happen to us. Mine just happened a couple months back. Hopefully my mechanic did a good job strengthening the piece.

what can you do to reinforce it?

My mechanic welded a piece of steel to the arm itself, and also welded around where the shaft connects to the arm. Don't know if it will help but hey it's worth a shot.

Quite a few of us texas guys actually broke a couple of these. I am now on dealing with the problem also. I snapped it about a month ago after 1 1/2 year that it was welded the first time it broke. Now I bought a new one and got it reinforced. It is not hard at all to replace it once you get the transmission off the car.

But keep in mind that there are *two* pins in each hole that hold it in. I got the inner two pins out, and was banging on the thing with a rubber mallet for half an hour before I figured out that there were two more pins in there.

Is all that hard to get the tranny off?

Getting the tranny off itself isn't hard, it's getting off everything that's connected to it that is the pain. Rear crossmember mount thing, passenger axle, and starter are the hardest three.

Actually, nothing is really all that difficult, it just is a lot of steps, and takes a bit of time. Just be methodical and label things and you'll be okay.
