I CAN SHIFT INTO SECOND AT WHATEVER RPM I WANT NOW! WOO HOO!

for those who didn't know, a month after purchasing my '92 nissan sentra se-r my 2nd gear synchronizer mysteriously went out. like any human with a brain, i decided to have it fixed. well, 1 week and $651 later i have a se-r tranny with a brand new 2nd gear and assembly, clutch, and pressure plate. i tested the clutch out once and i get some wheelhop in second gear so i know it's working good. no more of that fun for a little while though as i gotta break the clutch in so i don't glaze it. :)

That's actually not to bad a price for a new 2nd gear, clutch and pressure plate. How much would it have cost if you only had the gear replaced?

I thought 2nd gear went out because you were "playing in the snow" :confused:

I think he atmpted a "power burnout" as the kids call it these days, its where you go in reverse as fast as you can go and slam it in second and drop the clutch while at the same molment flooring the accelerator....kids these days.....:rolleyes:

haha me and my friend did that everyday after school when i was in HS, back in those days i was driving my 91 se, and we still have our marks from those burnouts.

i was playing in the snow, but all i was doing was using the e-brake to slide around a parking lot. no shifting involved whatsoever. i was in 2nd gear the whole time, and there was no abuse going towards it (little towards the motor though). i don't think that was the cause, so that's why i say it was mysterious.
