Ok I've got the sagging door problem, I know I need new hinges. My doors don't close right if I run my hand down the outside where the door meets the car, the door sits out 1/4" or so. Will new hinges make them close flush? If I lift them up and push against them they still don't close flush even for a second.

Good question. Both my classics do that. I replaced hinges on the white one and it still did it though. So who knows how to fix this? It is annoying, I have to turn my dome light off so it doesn't flash around corners.
Edit: correction, I didn't replace the whole hinges but I did replace the hinge pins/bushings. Cured the famous door sag anyhow.

I replaced my hinges completely and my door lines up pretty well, FWIW.

Ok next question did you install them yourself? I do most of my own maintance but I'm not sure if I'll know enough to do the doors. I doubt I'd ever have to do them again. ;)

Yes I did it myself with a friend's help. Do a search here for the topic, I can't remember if I posted or PMd my how-to. There's also a good write-up on SE-R.net about it. Basically, you use a floor jack to support the door, take the rear of the fender loose to get at all the bolts and replace one hinge at a time. Have a friend help, even if they only balance the door and hand you tools it'll go a lot faster, since I'm guessing you don't have four hands. Having someone balance the door is essential.

Make sure your switch is not bad. Also to those who change the hinges and it still sags, try adjusting the door lock hook. That usually works too.

adjusting the door then go on a diet and cut out the heavy suport beem on both doors then cut out the rest of the door panel (you get lighter, faster, nomore problems with door sagging, and you get dead if hit on the drivers side of the car:D )lol
