FYI - If you drive your B13 se-r with Koyo aluminum radiator in cold ambient temps, you might have to block a portion of it in order to reach full operating temps.
Mine would not warm up yesterday in 0 to 10 deg F weather.
I had to block about 3/4 of the radiator with cardboard so it would warm up and slow the plummeting fuel gauge. :)
Even with the cardboard, accel above 3500 RPM caused the temp (on the techtom) to drop to around 125 F, and took a few minutes of driving under 3500 RPM to warm up again.

Sounds like a thermostat problem to me.

I agree. On my turbo S13 with Koyo I have no problems maintaining a good operating temp.

I drove it on Saturday when it was warmer, and it reached 183 F without cardboard.
I changed the thermostat 79k miles ago (replaced with a Rockhill brand), so I suppose it could be acting up. I'll have to get a good OEM from the dealer.

I have been driving mine with the temps around 0F and it warmed right up with the Koyo radiator.

I finally replaced the thermostat with a genuine Nissan part, a few days ago.
The one I removed (from NAPA IIRC) looks cheap, not nearly as beefy as the Nissan one.
The cheapo thermostat was sticking - neither closing, nor opening properly. Previous tstats that failed on me would stick full open, not somewhere in-between. This one was strange because it would reach normal temps, but drop under full acceleration.
After the install, I started it up with heater on full blast, full hot.
It took about 30 minutes to reach 172 deg F (Techtom MDM-100).
That was with the cardboard still in - forgot to remove it.
I drove it to work yesterday (cardboard still covering 3/4 of the radiator) and the temp stayed between 171-174 F, even idling at stop lights, and during acceleration above 3500 RPM. Before it would drop to 125-140 F during acceleration, and reach 190 F idling in traffic.
I removed the cardboard for the drive home. It warmed up normally, to 172 F. Under full throttle acceleration it only drops to about 165 F now. Same thing this morning, so all is good.
Now I need another Koyo for the turbo car, if it will fit...
