: Tranny Problem!
SE-Rican 03-01-2002, 06:04 PM I know this is half off topic but half is a question I have to ask. I just picked my car up from the mechanic. They replaced my Starter and a ground wire. On my way home I take off in the car and it is running like a champ. About ten min. away from my house I decide to get on the car a little. I get on it in second gear and when I hit 3rd "BOOM!" . I lost my 3rd gear. MY CAR HAS NO 3RD GEAR!:mad: :( :eek: :confused: :mad: . I can't believe that shit happened. This is my second tranny I have lost!
When I bought my new tranny I bought it from Nissan Parts! I think I have a 1 year 12,000 mile warranty. I look on the reciept and it was 1 year Feburary 2nd :( I think I am out of luck. I called the Nissan dealer and they told me to come in at 8 am tomorrow. I hope they help me out! I would hate to have to go threw the trouble of finding another tranny.
Now to my question. I still have my old tranny. I cracked the old tranny. If I need to can I take the 3rd gear out of the old tranny and put it in the one I just broke? Also is that recomended?
I hope to God that the dealer can work somthing out with me!:(
SENTRASER 03-01-2002, 06:39 PM What was wrong with your old tranny, 5th gear pop out, cracked case? If its just a cracked case, I'd just take the gear set outta the cracked case tranny and put it in your current case...also, did you buy the 200sx tranny, the B13 tranny, new or used?

Serban 03-01-2002, 06:45 PM Rob, first off, dont even think of trying to look for another tranny. Take this one off your car, and swap the housing thats cracked on the old one with the one on your current tranny, that way you wont even start messing with the gears. BOOM, done! :D

SE-Rican 03-03-2002, 12:32 AM Well I have a old tranny that I cracked . So he is going to take that tranny and take out all the stuff he needs to fix the one I just broke. I figure he will take out the 3rd gear and make it work. He is charging me very little because I am family! :D

I'd just swap out the gear set and then scrap the old gear set....what year is your gear set that is currently in your car out of? is it a B14 tranny?

playatx99 03-03-2002, 01:38 AM damn man that sucks.......... did you slam 3rd or just shift normally?? i need a new tranny too, the bearings in mine are wasted and it whines like a BIA.... but i found a primera tranny for it, so I'm just gonna get the gearset swapped out, so it should be good now

Be sure and clean out the case very well, get all the metal shavings out, plus you probably outta change the top bearing that you initially take the case off of....

ThomasSr20 03-03-2002, 03:14 AM My friend with the Nx2000 just got a 93 tranny for $80.
He got it from "You Pull it" in Ft.Lauderale, the only reason that is so cheap because he got to take the tranny out by himself.

VaNXman 03-05-2002, 01:40 AM Man my trying is on its way out too, is there a better gear set? My gears are just a bit too high for my taste. I dont need to do sixty in 2nd.
SE-Rican 03-05-2002, 08:09 AM Well gang I got the Classic back last night. Incredibale that my uncle fixed it that fast. The car seems to be like normal. I like it :D I am still babying it though. Thank God that I had that old tranny for spare parts. Well now time for the next step!!;)
