: Whiteline control arm brace carnage
johnand 12-27-2005, 06:02 PM Well, here is what happens when a Whiteline control arm brace tries to do battle with a bunch of 4x6's bolted together:

This happened when coming home on Friday. A construction truck in front on me swerved to miss a kid running across the road, and a bunch of 4x6" that were bolted together fell off his truck, I missed them all but 1.
In case you have never seen a Whiteline brace, that front part of the bar should be straight. :(
~KnuckleDuster~ 12-27-2005, 06:04 PM Danm that sucks. Ive taken a few rabbits heads of with my whiteline bar but never hit anything major. Is it going to bend back in place?

If you look at the linked hi-res pictures, you'll see lot's of stress cracks in the anodizing, so I am thinking, if I do try to bend it back, it may break. It is very soft aluminum, which is good, because if it was more rigid, it would have probably bent the subframe.
se_nismo 12-27-2005, 09:48 PM man that sucks i once was behind a work that had was loaded with bricks truck that swerved and the bricks of course came down on my b13 bending 3 of my volk rims and one actually got caught inside the rear wheel well and juggled itself denting my rear quarter panel...i always think twice when driving behind work trucks now...
kleensleeper 12-27-2005, 10:50 PM That sucks about the brace.I ran out a can of paint & a garden rake of all things on the freeway. It was too late to avoid it also.My brace held up pretty good ***.
McCoy 12-28-2005, 10:45 AM Glad you and the car are ok... sorry for the brace :(.
You might consider the progress 3-point brace, less money and it does not hang as low as the whiteline brace.

Monty, do you have one on your B13? Have a pic? I have yet to see one installed.
NX$paniard 12-28-2005, 12:49 PM i'd like to see pics of the progress brace as well.
~KnuckleDuster~ 12-28-2005, 02:09 PM Most people have fitment issues from what ive read. (progress bar)
McCoy 12-28-2005, 02:17 PM Adam - if I remember right the few people that did have problems mentioned having sagging motor mounts and the need to replace some of the exhaust hangers...
John - I've seen pictures of the brace on project sentra in the SCC magazine... maybe about 4 or 5 issues ago, looked like it fit fine with no issues of hitting the catback exhaust or progress swaybars they installed.
~KnuckleDuster~ 12-28-2005, 02:22 PM Found some

johnand 12-28-2005, 02:31 PM I've seen that picture, would just love to see pics of it installed on the car.
Monty, I'll see if I can dig up the SCC and see pics.
Hell, my Whiteline bar has fitment issues. It hits the Hotshot header flex pipe.
McCoy 12-28-2005, 02:35 PM The progress bar sits back farther and should be behind the flex pipe making fitment easier for a HS header.
8pinoy8 02-15-2006, 12:37 AM My progress LCA brace was a PITA installing it, and as for clearance wise I think the Whiteline will have more than the progress.
My progress brace is close to touching my secondary pipe (that is going to the cat) of my HS headers that is why I am just ordered another Whiteline brace cause I am planning on modifying my secondaries to 2.5" and I think it will hit my brace if I do that.
Shawn B 02-15-2006, 12:51 AM Bummer on your Whiteline. Glad it wasn't worse. Freeway debris has claimed a couple of wheels of mine over the years.
Octotat at Bolt In Bars is running the Whiteline brace at $135 right now.

Funny, I test fit my new Progress LCA brace a few nights ago with the HS 3" downpipe and it looks like it will be a tight fit, but work.
I also have the front Progress swaybar which is a littler large than the oem bar, making my 3" DP vibrate on it while idling.
liupj 02-15-2006, 01:13 AM Monty, checkout where your DP is vibrating on the progress bar. I bet you have scratches on it :)
Don't ask me how I know..

I'm not to worried about scratches, I used a BFH on the downpipe at the point it rubs the swaybar already :)
Hey... don't you owe me some pictures, Phil :squint:

By the way it looks under my car, the LCA brace doesn't look like it will clear a 2.5" secondary pipe...At least I order a Whiteline brace just in case.
