I am getting a full exhuast on my car. It is going to be 2.25 inch from the header back. It is not going to have a cat. I was wondering what you guys think of Ractive mufflers.

It is not going to have a cat.
Why? The cat isn't costing you hp. and why be a gross polluter?

Exactly! Why?

Not to mention, it will be loud as hell! The cat actually assists with baffling the exhaust sound on top of not making you a gross polluter!

I have a Ractive straight-through stainless steel exhaust, and it's fine. Very nice. Very deep tone, not blatty. I would suggest using a resonator as well, otherwise it's a little too loud.

Not to harp, but I would suggest a cat as well.

Unless you're turbocharged, it won't affect your power output, and it will quiet things down too.

Even with a turbo you should run a cat. You would need to be running some big amount of boost before the stock cat becomes restrictive. And then you can always go with a TTZ cat or a high flow cat like Random.

I'm turbo, at first I didn't have a cat, and then I put it on. can't tell the difference in the car except it is a little quiter.

The reason I am not running a cat is bacause it cost like $150 and I do not have that money. The cat does not effect the sound. The cat is for emmisions. In FL we do not have emmisions. What I am going to do is get a test pipe to replace the cat, until I have the money to get a high flow cat.

What's wrong with your OE Nissan cat?

Unless you have a really high mileage car, you should consider leaving the cat in. Even a stock cat should not cause significant back-pressure. Of course, you probably will see a power gain if your stock cat has a lot of miles on it. Stuff in there melts, etc. In that case, just hollow it out for now.

BTW, I have the EXACT same car as you. Same year, color, wheels, same way-too-tall antenna...

Hey rally kid that sure is a nice car you have!!! Man I am sick and tired of everybody chewing on everybodies stuff. Why you gotta hate. Do you really think that my one car is going to make a difference in polution?!!! Here is my situation: I have bout $130, I have a crapy exhuast with holes in it and a rusty stock cat. I live in FL where there is NO, I repeat NO emmisions. I want to get a straight exhaust with a ractive muffler and I just wanna know what you guys think of a Ractive muffler and all you do is chew on the no cat. So I will ask again WHAT DO YOU THINK OF RACTIVE MUFFLERS?!!!!!!! This is what I am going to do I am going to have the exhaust put on with my stock cat, then make a test pipe to replace the cat and then when I have money I am going to get a nice cat. OK?!!!! please tell me what you think of Ractive.

On the topic of mufflers,

will a cat-back for an SE-R fit an NX2000?

It will be about six inches too long. However, you can chop and reweld it to fit the NX2000.

It's always just one car...it adds up :(
Just because your state doesn't have emissions gives you the right to pollute?
I walked into an audio store the other day...I took a few CD players...afterall, there were no signs telling me not to.
