When i turn the key to the accessories there is this mechanical sound as if something is moving, when i try to crank the car it doesn't catch

Ok put the timing back to where it should be (jumped a tooth) but i have this mechanical sound coming from above my intake manifold that wasn't there before

any opinions?

Question is it ok to start the car with the valve cover off?

The mechanical sound you are hearing when the key is turned to the accessory position is probably the fuel pump. What do you mean the car doesn't catch? And its NOT ok to start the car with the valve cover off...oil will shoot everywhere and dust and debri will get on the valvetrain.

ok, kept the valve cover on, the car works and i will soon be posting what not to do for a cam install.
