I need to know what o2 sensor will work with a U12 ecu. I have been told that it's the JDM skinny o2 sensor, but that the z31 sensor will work. I have looked for them, and there are several different ones. Is there a particular one that I need, or does anyone have a part number?

TIA!

I'd call JGY or Mossy. They both sell what you need.

I went to the local autozone, and grabbed the O2 for a 89 300zx Turbo, which is skinny, and will require that I use my existing harness clip, for my U12 - I will know if this one works early this week :-)

I think its the right one.

y cant u just wire it directly?

the clip was different on the one I got. I pulled the wires out carefully with a small small screwdriver, so I could actually remove the terminals, then I did the same with my stock oxygen sensor, and put the wires from the 300zx sensor into the 93 NX2000 sensor in the same order with the same colors.

I was wrong, the sensor I had for comparison that had 2 white and 1 black was not like the one actually in use in my car. The one in my car had red white and black.

FYI the autozone Oxygen Sensor is a Bosch and cost me 69.99+tax which I thought was a pretty good deal.

So now I have a U12 Manual Transmission ECU, a 89 300zx Turbo Z31 O2 Sensor, and a stock 93 NX2000 MAF Adapter driving a Non-BB Avenir T25 internally wastegated at 6psi. BTW it is a SOKO JDM Sr20 for the engine.

This car is running a lot better than it was on the USDM ECU with an my e-manage.

A LOT better.

I hope this helps.

Hey I have a u12 ecu if needed. Its from an automatic though. Rev limiter comes in at 7250.

walrus, you took the wires out of the sensor, or just out of the connector clip? Do you have any pics of what it looks like/should wire up like? What wires on the stock harness line up to which on the O2 sensor? I'll be needing to do this soon, as my ECU is on the way!! woot!!

sounds like walrus took his time with this..nice explanation of ur set-up..how can u tell if the ecu is auto?

I took the TERMINALS out of the harness, and put them into my stock harness, they fit in perfectly, you have to jam a really small eyeglass screwdriver to set them free, each wire terminal is held in with a little plastic clip.

I hear O2 sensors don't like their wires cut and soldered/twisted together because they're sensitive to voltage drop.

no pics, but go get the autozone 89 300zx turbo Z31 oxygen sensor. it should be skinny compared to your USDM one, be made by bosch and have three wires of the same color with the same terminals on the end of them (as your USDM sensor) - the only difference is the connector, so just remove the terminals from the connector and put them in yours and you're good to go.

as far as the ECU goes, search for the part number on the ECU and you'll find a plethora of threads identifying your ECU.

good luck. I will try to help with any other questions.

OH BTW go to the nissan dealership and order the "exhast nut" (o2 bung) for the 89 300zx Z31 J-pipe. its like 3 bucks, and its what the skinny O2 sensor threads into, you'll need to use a freaking axle nut socket to remove the old one and install it, you'll see what I mean, otherwise your skinny o2 won't fit in the old slot.

this is all assuming you don't already have the correct o2 bung installed.

is this confusing? I hope you can make sense of this

ok. makes sense. Just one more question. Will the sensor not thread into my GTi-R manifold bung? Or are you referring to the collar nut that the O2 sensor thread into, and the "exhaust nut" then threads into the the welded on bung?

Thanks for the answers!

Hey Dr. Fowler, your PM box is full. I recieved your ecu yesterday, its chip'd and burned and ready to go out today (Friday). PM me your shippingg address, otherwise I'm just gonna use the one I used before.

The ECU is setup as follows:
U12 Base Map
U13 Timing Maps
Raised Rev Limiter to 7500
Removed Speed Limiter

If theres anything else you wanted done, let me know ASAP. I think that covers it ***.

Steven
