Well I went to the drag strip for the first time FINALLY(it was an 1/8th). I made 4 passes, the first to were ok, the last 2 were crap no thanks to a heavily slipping clutch, hey it's the original one and the car has 150k miles, what more could i ask for.

1st run:

rt : .677

60 ft.: 2.310

ET: 9.883

2nd run:

RT: .754

60 ft.: 2.333

ET: 9.904

3rd run:

RT: redlight

60 ft.: 2.496

ET: 10.243

4th run :

RT: .757

60 ft.: 2.304

ET: 10.002

I can't post any trap speeds because it doesn't show on the slip.

Would anybody know what that 9.883 would be in the 1/4? How'd I do? :) TIA

Well, i recently went to the track for the first time this season at englishtown, and my best run was 1/8th mile of 9.847 @71.62 mph, with a 60' time of 2.368, which could have been better, and a reaction time of .508, which translated into a 15.32 quarter mile @ 88.47 mph. Thats with intake and exaust.... :)
Hope this helps!

Thanks :). I think i could make a better time with another clutch (still the stock one at 150k) and with more practice as that was my first time ever at the strip. What rpm do you guys usually launch on street tires? My 9.883 run, i launched at about 3,500 rpm.

I also found 3500 to 3800 to work best for me that day, even though my 60 foot could have been better. I dont floor it as soon as i drop the clutch either, i keep the revs steady and drop the clutch, then once i feel im about to grab i floor it. Hope this helps...all tracks have differences as well.

I do a 2500rpm drop and floor.. usually I get spin till 4000 and it grab. That's on my Rota with Kumho 711 ***, and only on a dry day.

So what does this technique net you in the track?

Bring it up to 4 or 5 g's and drop it! Trust me, it sounds high, but it's worked for many people with great results. Check on se-r.net for more info on launching.

If you do a search, Jay Hassinger did a good write up on it. Just search the mailing list archives with something like: Hassinger drag launch

That should help you out:)
