guys i know that many of the fwd guys run s4 cams with stock springs and retainers... but ive got a ton of people tellin me that i cant be runing these hks 264 step 2s *** way i am (stock springs) if soo why do jwt s4 cams no requir springs but a smaller hks NEEDDSSS THEM?

I don't know what the hks cams require or do not require, but there is much more to cam design then just duration or lift.

hks has multiple levels of cams. you can get stage 1 (stock valve train) w/ 264 lift/duration, whatever they rate it at. and you can get stage 2 that requires aftermarket valvetrain with the same lift/duration...

the stage 2 probably has a quicker ramp up which requires the stronger springs.

stage 1=stock stage 2=springs and retainers stage 3 = mechancial valve train
