Positive lead on positive battery terminal
Negative lead on negative battery terminal

If it is inductive pickup, clamp this around the #1 plug wire.
Check the pickup to see if it has a direction to it (typically a picture of a spark plug with an arrow to one side) and hook it up appropriately.

I had that same problem. I couldn't figure out for the life of me what this little flashing light would do for me. But then it dawned on me as i was walking out to the car to actually attempt to do the timing.

When the engine is running, the pullies are obviously spinning. The crank pulley is marked with little white lines (6 to be exact), but while the engine is running you won't see them with your naked eye. There is a tiny metal pointer right above the pulley. That's your reference point.

After you hook up your timing light via the light's instructions, aim the light at the top of the pulley. Every time those white marks pass the tiny pointer, the timing light will simultaneously flash. The same white mark should consistently pass the pointer at the flash of the light...and you can adjust your distributor to adjust the timing accordingly. Hope this helps!

You have got to be kidding me.

Why not just pay to have everything done to your car and never have to learn how to do anything at all? You'd have a mAd HiP yO car, but wouldn't know a damn thing about how to fix it if something went wrong. Which, eventually, it will.

Go buy a timing light and learn how to set your timing! You'll learn something new (wow, what a concept), and never have to pay somebody to do it for you ever again.

And if you're really on top of things, you, too, can charge other unsuspecting "enthusiasts" like yourself to do this for them. Thereby, you actually make money and learn something at the same time.

It would be the best $15 you've ever spent on car stuff.

I've done almost everything in my car myself *** it was cheaper...
and if my friends asked me to do theres...i'd tell um no
*** i dont wanna be responicble for fckn there sht up.
sorry we dont all have money to do everything like u
obviously do....and yes 10 extra bux is a lot for me
and by the way....keep talkn sht and see how far u get in life

First off....calm down. There.

Secondly... I figured if you were willing to pay $10-15 to have somebody set your timing for you, then why not go the extra few bucks and get a timing light yourself. I showed you that you could learn how to do it yourself (with the help of us here on the Forum) and make that money back by helping your friends with their timing.

So shoot me.

Thirdly...$25 for a timing light does not signify that one is rolling in the money, like you proclaim me to be doing.

Fourth...I've come further in life than you will ever know. Didn't talk one word of sh!t to get where I am, either. Thank you very much for asking.

honestly man chill out, gregg is a good guy and i think he is giving you some sound advice. instead of paying someone you can have the light yourself and use it as much as you want and stuff, its a good tool to have.

Yep! Take a chill pill. SERprise is kind enough to share his knowledge with us and to give some advice on how to make some money while still having fun with our hobby.

We all know that this is an expensive hobby we have. But with a little sharing of knowledge and a lending hand, this hobby becomes affordable and fun.

Dude, can you please use common English? Non-ghetto people have a hard time reading that. This is not Club Si.
