I got a Classic with a DET, I installed a ACT X-treme pressure plate and center force dual friction disc. I'm having problems with the clutch, I know that it is suppose to be very hard but the other problem that I have is that the engagement point is way too low some times I can't get the car in gear. The clutch cable is adjusted all the way and the clucth lever isn't bent. So as the title says I just wanted to know how many persons have had this same problem. I want to see if there is a pattern so I can get ACT to replace my PP.
TIA
Hector

I had the same problem with my Clutch. I replaced the Clutch Cable and the problem was gone. I also had very low engagement. I adjusted the shit out of the cable and it would not work. I had that cable snap on me. So try changing the Cable and I am pretty sure your problem will be solved.

Hey gang Correct me if I am wrong. But that is what happened to me! Goodluck Bro! :)

I forgot to mention that I replaced the clutch cable with an original one and that didn't solve the problem.

i have had bad experiences with this PP. the first one i had, had a "broken diaphram" or at least thats what ACT told me when i sent it back. the thing didnt let me even engage in any gears, and was stiff as crap.
the replacement they sent me worked out fine. now i have a single washer/shim where the clutch cable goes through the black bracket, and it helps out the engagement point.
still the clutch was extremely stiff, seems like it was binding although i adjusted it as tight as it could go, i had 2 washers where the bracket was and i could barely get the car to go in gear, by the way i had NO free play in my pedal. i had already replaced the clutch cable with one from NAPA when i first recieved my PP, so i thought what the hell, and used my old OE cable. once installed it was soooo smooth, felt like a whole different clutch. removed one of the washers and it engaged perfectly off the ground.
oh by the way, i have a 6 puck disk.

try drilling holes i the bracket on the tranny for the clutch cable...move that front or back(dont remember) and that should be fine!!

I had the same problem with my ACT Xtreme PP. There is a cheap and easy way to resolve this. I bought some big washers and I put them the where the clutch cable goes through the black bracket as SERboy said. Because the pedal effort with the ACT PP is greater than the OEM PP the only problem that you can have is that the rubber at the end of the cable thas is near the black bracket can be damage with the time, that is why to avoid this I used a hose's clamp around that rubber to prevent the rubber bend or break. I hope these pictures can help, sorry my digital camera is cheap:

But you get the idea. You can buy the hose clamp on any PepBoys stores and the washers on any hardware store.

NOTE: you can use one or two washers at the end of the cable as the picture shows, and also if that does not help you can add at least one or two washers to the other end of the cable near the fire wall.

I almost forgot, there is a small base below the brake master cylinder that hold the cable in place. TO keep the cable in place you will need to hold the cable with a strap to keep it in place at that base.

With this trick now you will have a lot cable adjustment to play with it.

Believe me, this solve my problem with the ACT PP and I have this trick one my car for a year now and is working perfect. I hope this help you an other SR20DE owners as well.

I did the washer solution that Mr SE-R talked about. It WORKS great. It really help adjustability. That is the only way to do it. There is no other way I could think of.

Thank's for all the input people, by the way what clutchnet set up is that?, is it the one with double diafragm PP?, and what disc do you have?

There are numerous problems/draw-backs with using the ACT Extreme PP. It is a good PP, it just means that you have to be able to deal with the draw-backs.

No matter what you do to make adjustability possible, you still have to worry about wear on the cable, clutch cable mounting bracket, and clutch arm. Because of the stiffness of the PP the clutch cable bracket flexes up to .5" This causes the cable to kink and eventually fail and snap. I broke two this way. You have to make that bracket rigid by welding supports to it so that it won't flex. (this will make pedal feel a little bit better) After doing that even more force is applied to the clutch arm that goes into the top of the tranny. This then has to be reinforced so that it doesn't break, but you will still get premature wear.

When I had that PP cables lasted 10,000 miles. So you might want to keep one on hand. When adjusted properly pedal feel is hard, but not unbearable. Because I put so many miles on my car and it is a daily driver I went back to an ACT HD PP.

Good Luck

Right now I'm using the ACT Xtreme PP and the OEM clutch disc. Is working great. The pedal feel in my case is not so hard. I was harder when I was using the Xtreme PP and the 6puck race disc. In my case, I don't think that the cable will break, because like I said, the pedal effort is not so hard.

BUT, as sr20detutah said, is IMPORTANT that if you are running the Xtreme PP, ALWAYS keep in you car an extra clutch cable and some tools in case that the clutch cable fails. ;)
