: JWT Maf Adapter
focus 03-08-2002, 11:45 AM Any reason why the bolt holes won't line up in my 92 nx2000. This Pop was suppose to be for an SE-R as far as I know they are the same? Im I installing it right? 1 remove Airbox by unbolting the 4 bolts, bolt the adapter to Maf assembly (side with 0 ring). Thats all there is to it or am I losing my mind? Are there any differences Year to Year in bolt spaceing? Thanks
NismoSER 03-08-2002, 12:10 PM this may sound stupid...but have you tried rotating the adapter?
I do'nt have the JWT one, i have some generic aftermarket one. It didn't fit in perfectly, just one of the 4 bolts didnt' slide right through. that one required some elbow grease.
otherwise, send it back and get another. all the MAFs between the SE-Rs and NX's..and presumably all SR20DE's are the same.
Driven97 03-08-2002, 12:35 PM Yeah, the holes aren't in a square pattern. In fact, I'm pretty sure there's only one way it will go in there. I used to put my stock airbox in the night before every autocross, and put my POP back in the night after. I don't think I got it right the first time ever.
focus 03-08-2002, 12:36 PM I will look at again. I tried rotating it but I will check one more time. This was bought used so I might be screwed! I no the last one I had also had a bracket which used an airbox bolt to support it I don't have that or a breather. Man this sucks.Any other suggestions?
NismoNx2000 03-08-2002, 01:58 PM Well, i had a similar problem with my adapter, it didnt seem to line up with all the holes. I found that i couldnt use the stock screws for it either, so i bought some thinner screws, that enabled me to fit it on there with little difficulty.
aka focus 03-08-2002, 05:32 PM I tried it again not even close! I mean I have seen these before I had one on my last SE-R. This is really weird. It seems the same as far as the velocity stack and big ass 6 inch across filter. Are there other applications that a pop style was designed for? This has K@N on the filter not JWT or Stillen. Just doesn't make sense. Oh well looks like I am out 58 bucks.
NismoSER 03-08-2002, 06:00 PM i think i may know what happened: read this closely....
I bought a generic MAF adapter for my 91 classic...but the eBay ad said it was for 95-99 sentras. I got the adapter, it fit perfectly.
I ordered another one for my bro's 240SX, whose MAF holes line up perfectly with mine. So, i ordered an adapter again for a 95-99 sentra. WHen it came, i had the same problem...the holes weren't even close!!
The one that's on my sentra has the holes near the corners, but they aren't perfectly round. Rather, they are elongated, as if whoever cut the holes didn't measure accurately and wanted to make sure it fit.
The one that i got for the 240 has the holes nowhere near the corner of the adapter...they are closer to the middle. Go to http://www.procarparts.com/store/displaydetails.cfm?pid=AI-NIS-9599240SX you'll see a different bolt pattern than here http://www.procarparts.com/store/displaydetails.cfm?pid=AI-NIS-9397ALT. I went out and took a close look at my friends 1996 Sentra GXE, and it looks as if the holes actually are a little closer toward the middle.
do you have the same problem? I just bought another cheapie MAF adapter and sold the "wrong one" to my friend with the sentra, where it fits correctly.
aka focus 03-08-2002, 06:35 PM Well that is another story. I bought an Intake from ProCarParts and it had the wrong adapters twice! I sent that back tonight. Took over a Month and I still had to send it back. But the JWT piece has got me baffled. This should work but the holes do not line up. Oh well. I wouldn't buy from ProCarparts again the quality of there materials is very poor. Luckily all it will cost me for that mistake is time. I can ship stuff for free most of the time, I wish Injen had produced a shorty like they had tested in SCC.But looks like that will never happen.
Sunny 03-08-2002, 09:48 PM Courtesy Nissan has their JWT POP on special price at $120 instead of $159, just in case anyone is looking for an Intake.

aka focus 03-08-2002, 09:50 PM With my luck it still wouldn't fit.
Sunny 03-08-2002, 09:53 PM link of course

Sunny 03-08-2002, 10:12 PM also, i just recently installed a used S14 Silvia Blitz Stainless filter w/ the Blitz MAF adaptor and it fits over the stock SE-R MAF. i had to rotate the MAF a quarter turn counter clockwise for everything to line up perfectly.
another option for the SR20 parts bin! :D
aka focus 03-08-2002, 10:18 PM I have read a lot about those filters. Mostly good things. Where could I get one any idea how much?
Sunny 03-08-2002, 10:34 PM http://www.ipnindustries.com/motorsports/webcart/index.php?cat=Blitz%20Air%20Filter%20System
it's under Nissan and it is $200 for S13 and S14
