: Short shifters and radio antennas
mrjaak 03-08-2002, 01:23 PM Could somebody tell me what short shifters are good for a 95 200sx se-r? I have heard the pace setter short shifter is barely shorter than the stock shifter. I am so tired of shifting with a freaken horse cock. I am also interested in getting a new radio antenna. I want one that mounts on the roof. Does anybody know where i can find those?

You're kidding me right?
The Pacesetter has the shortest throw of all the shifters.
I have a B&M on my 94. Its not as short as the Pace but its nice.
Go with the Pacesetter. You wont be dissappointed. Trust me!!
As for an antenna, Im not sure where to get those roof mounted ones. Im going to install a windshield mounted one so I can get rid of the antenna outside of the car. Radio Shack has those for like $5 $10.
Good luck whatever you do.
mrjaak 03-08-2002, 03:22 PM Ok. Well then I should probably get that then. Nopi has it for like $50. Do you know any place with a better price?

im pretty sure you can get them on ebay... i seen em on there
v8killer2001 03-08-2002, 05:46 PM By far, the B&M shifter is the best. It has the best "feel" because it is made of stainless steel, rather than aluminum. As such, the B&M is a lot heavier than the Pacesetter.
Even with the Pacesetter at its shortest setting, the height of the shifter is still way too high...like you are driving a school bus or something!
The B&M is a lot much lower height in the car than the Pacesetter.
However, the B&M is almost 2.5 to 3 times as much as the Pacesetter.
You get what you pay for.
Peace,
SERsentra94 03-09-2002, 12:36 AM I have a Topspeed SS and love it. The pacesetter is discontinued right now so I went w/ the Topspeed (about $60). It's throw is between the B&M and the Pacesetter. Topspeed is an aluminum shifter.

When did that happen? Is that what all the backorder bullshit is about? Glad I bought mine from Greg. I may have paid to much but it does have a nice short throw.

Actually the Pace setter at the lowest position , and shortest throw is 1/2" lower than stock shifter height.
I thought it was aweful close so I measured mine to a friends stock shifter.
SERsentra94 03-09-2002, 05:55 PM I tried to order the pacesetter from 3 online retailers including nopi. They all said it was backordered so i went to my local tuner shop and they called pacesetter. Pacesetter said the will have a new model in about two months.
madburner 03-10-2002, 03:34 PM I put in an SMC kwik shift. Very nice. More expensive than the pacesetter, but it is steel and it has an adjustable ball. It is so much better than the stock "horse cock" shifter. Very stiff at first even with the grease, but I got it worked in in a couple of dayz. It was also used in the SCC June 01 issue of project nissan 200sx 1.6 car if you want to read up on it.
Rittmeister 03-10-2002, 04:44 PM SMC and PaceSetter are the exact same thing. I'm very happy with the PS version, put it in a few weeks ago and it works great. Build quality was great, no problems with install.
If you think the shifters are too tall, you're spending too little time watching where you're going.

I bought and installed my SMC shifter a year ago. I'm not sure but I think at that time the pacesetter shifter wasn't adjustable. But maybe it was and I was just sniffin' exhaust fumes!!!!!!! Dawell, either way I'm happy with the shifter!!!:D
Probedude 03-12-2002, 01:00 AM Here's a cheap solution. You don't even need to cut out the 1" section have it rewelded if you don't want to.
