I have some difficulties deciding what size of intercooler I should buy. The gtir intercooler comes with my engine, my as I want to front mount it, it's kinda too big!

I've been looking for a wrx intercooler (normally top mounted) that I would front mount. I think this one would be nice because it's long, little and should be fitted easily behind my "spoiler", well between the fog lights. I think the wrx intercooler is smaller than the gtir one, but as it would be front mounted, would it change anything?

I also found this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1811096048&r=0&t=0
From a volvo. I think it could be installed easily becase I have a gap betwen my spoiler and my radiator and this intercooler is only 1,5" in depth. But I don't the efficiency of it and the quality of the cooling.

I don't wanna spend 200$ on an intercooler. No look either. Something that does the job correctly. 100$US would be right.

Look for a Starion IC. From what I have heard they work well and fit well.

I found one, but it looks very big to me! I wonder how it will enter there and will the radiator be able to cool with that big thing in fornt of him?

I'm still not decided what intercooler I'm gonna put. I would like to have the advice of NX owners who did this actually, or people who know someone who did this.

The starion is 17" wide and 8" high, I remember that someone here talked about something like "no more than 6" high" or it will be very difficult to fit.

I'm still searching for a wrx one. I know it's top mounted, but it could be front mounted I think. But still is it big enough to cool my future 10-11 psi?

So a Skyline GT-R intercooler (24x11x3) would be out of the question for you?? :p

I have a BB det intercooler on my Nx and I ended up removing the metal bumper to make it fit. It is possible for it to fit with some modifications done to the metal bumper(ie: cutting, hammering...) I believe Quikzeek on this forum has done that.
hope this helps,
Nick

My main wonder now is about the size. It must be small enough to fit in an nx bumper (quite small actually) and big enough to cool 10-11psi... I also thought about the BB intercooler, but as I'll have a gti-r engine, will it be big enough to cool the air?

Thanks for your replies guys!

I've looked carefully tonight to the space where it will go and there seems to be a little pipe (about 1/2" inch in diameter) in a U form. It looks to be the brake fluid cooler. What did you guys do with this?

Also, there's a vertical piece of steel right in the middle that goes from opening mechanism of the hood to the "front spoiler". Can I take that off? Because it really is in the way!

I took my condesor out today and noticed this U shaped line but i 'm thinking its for the power steering and not the brakes.

yeah that's possible, it was night when I checked it out and I was laying in the snow so.. maybe my brain was freezing! Where could we put that U shaped line? Below the intercooler?

Ya, it's the power steering cooling line. You can just move it like it says to in the SCC article (DEC '01)

My friend has a power steering cooler right underneath the power steering resvoir in his classic( its a '92) maybe we could just do a conversion to that type of cooler. Just a thought. Thanks for that heads up about the scc article i'm going to dig it up tonight and read it again.

Finally I bought a Starion intercooler. It's not as clean as the ones we see on ebay, but it was quite cheap. I'll do a little restoration on it though.
