If I remove it altogether (to put in the sender for my aftermarket gauge), will my oil pressure dummy light be on all the time?

I don't know for sure, but it shouldn't be that hard to figure out ;). It's pretty easy to get to, why don't you just unplug it and see what happens next time you start the car.

Do you know if it's a 12v or 5v sensor?

why not just get a "T" and run them both?

I went ahead and just put the gauge sender in the place of the stock sender. I'll fire it up in a little bit when the RTV dries and see what happens.

I took it out. It's sitting on my workbench.

When you remove the old sender and installed the aftermarket sender, the "idiot" is disabled. Are you running turbo or NA?

Sorry I am late, but the sensor does not come on if you unplug it:biggthump

I suppose it only makes the connection for the light if it is plugged in and there is no pressure on it, otherwise the connection is broken.
