Ok well it didn't kill it but more like wounded. Anyhow, my alternator was probably already on it's way out. I think the naaws just helped it go out faster. So I guess I get to take it out tomorrow. The symptoms are it squeals really bad on startup, and it's gets worse when I turn on things like the a/c or the headlights. Does this sound correct?

loose belt??

No the tention on the belts is good. I drove the car for sometime with my alternator pivot bolt missing so maybe that helped kill the alternator.

hookup a voltmeter to the battery when the car is running and see what the voltage is at.

Ok well, I was really hesitant about posting this but hey we're all friends here.. lol Ok so I got off work early on Monday to take the alternator out. I was convinced that it was bad, and I needed to get it taken care of a.s.a.p. So I get to turning wrenches. Move all kinds of stuff, disconnect all kinds of stuff, Waalaa. I got it out. ran up to a local place that rebuilds alternators. They put it on the bench..... NOTHING WRONG. Said it works GREAT. So now I'm like WTF? Well put it all back together and tightened the belt more. The noise stopped. So as best as I could figure, when I put my new pivot bolt in for the alternator, I overtightened the nut thereby not allowing me to get the proper adjustment out of my alternator. A lot of trouble for a loose belt. BUT now I know how to get my alternator out if it was to go bad.. Live and learn.
