What's the correct gapping for those Platinum NGKs in our '93 Classics? On www.se-r.net it says "0.039 - 0.044" but lately I've heard people gapping them to 0.031 - 0.035. Anyone?

PS. All I have to do is bend them a little to gap them, right? TIA :)

Officially, .039-.044 is for PLATINUMS (PFR6B) and .031-.035 for standard copper plugs (BKR6B).

And yes, all you have to do is bend them a little, assuming you know exactly How Much you bent them. i.e. use a filler gauge so you are sure.

I prefer a wire gauge.
I use coppers. Heat range of 6.

I like those dial type gapping pliers. Gets the exact same gap everytime. Friend of mine had a pair and did a set and I just thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Still have my 75 cent kastar gapper on my keychain though. :)

I have regular copper plugs in my nx when i changed from stupid bosch platinums, and i had them gapped between .31-.35 like the maunal suggested. Well, needless to say my car ran horribly, it felt all choked for power, so i gapped them to .42 i believe and it runs perfectly. Hopet his helps.
