I put the vc back on my car on thursday, drove the car thur, fri, sat, no problems. sat night on my way home i hear what sounds like a gurgling water noise coming from under the hood. when i get home i open the hood *** im thinking maybe oil is leaking from the vc. I dont see anything, and it wasnt making the noise anymore, so i go in. This morning I start the car and it feels like its running an 3 cylinders. The engine was shaking a lot. I checked the plug wires to make sure they where secure, and they where. I decided not to drive my car to school so I dont break anything, or break anything worse then it already is. When I got home I started my car up again to see if I could figure out what was wronge. It wasnt shaking nearly as bad this time when I started it up. I reved it a few times and now it seems fine. I drove it around the block a couple times and it drives just fine. What could have been wronge with my engine, and will it happen again? I was wondering if maybe some debris got under my vc when I had it off and then caused a valve to not open or close correctly. any ideas?

I would agree about the wet distribitor cap. One when it was raining like there was no tomorrw, I saw a big puddle and decide to play rally driver. Well my water crossing was went fine (and was fun!), and I got home and parked my car. I came out like a hour later and the sounded like a one of those 3 cylinder metros only worse, and had about as much power. I parked it, came back out later, it then ran fine for a little while then started the metro routine again. Did this for a few days and then the Dist. Cap dried out and it drove normally. Later, when I got a tune up, I found out that I had actually crack my dist. cap!

Anyway, if it is still giving you problems, try just letting it dry out.

When I had my CRX during the first week or two I decided to clean out the engine bay and run some fuel injector cleaner through the engine and about five minutes later of cleaning the car and driving around the thing began to stutter and misfire REALLY bad. I could hardly keep the thing idleing unless I got the RPMs up to 2000 rpms. After about two to three hours of the car sitting, I started the car and it was fine. About four months later when I replace the rotor and distrib. cap I found out the gasket around the distrib. cap was dry-rotted and leaked water into it.

I am also in Virginia (duh, like we didn't know that! :)) and the rain has been coming down rather hard the past couple of days, so that made have attributed to it. Good luck in finding the problem by the 30th if this isn't it.
