: Highport inlet manifold direct port install
CoZZm0 02-06-2006, 04:56 AM Hey all,
done a fair bit of reading but haven't found any specific details about having the jets for a direct port setup "stealthed" and located near the join between the plenum and intake runners on a highport manifold. I want to avoid having the jets visible for the "stock" look, but obviously changing jets will be a pain, i realise that. However, what i have read is about problems with pooling and what i haven't read is how far the direct port nozzles should/shouldn't be placed from the injectors.
will there be any problems placing the jets so far away from the injectors? should i just bite the bullet and have the setup visible? i really like keeping things low profile on the car so having the nozzles hidden would be a real bonus.
Currently jetted for a 75hp shot, its a 2nd hand kit which was not on a nissan before so i'll be having to remake the hardlines etc anyways so its like i'm starting from scratch.
Thanks for any info.
sleeper14 02-06-2006, 09:18 AM you don't want the spray to be hitting the sides of the runners, you want it to spray directly into the port
i really don't see how you can get around the non visible look

hrmm, i guess there's no way around it then, maybe i'll leave the N20 alone... thanks mate.
AaroNX 02-06-2006, 08:36 PM Mount it under the manifold. On the back of it. You can get a more direct shot into the head that way anyway I think. You'll still have to figure out how to hide all the lines/dist. blocks, and solenoids though.

I looked at mounting it underneath to begin with, there's not really enough room, it would be EXTREMELY tight on the throttle body end of it to bend a hard line to fit the space, let alone getting a spanner in there to tighten up the fittings. but i'll do some more measurements. I have a spare manifold that i'm installing it on as my car is my daily driver.
Also i think my tuner will kill me if any jets need to be adjusted if i mount them underneath!
sleeper14 02-07-2006, 01:39 PM unless you gonna be running like a 200hp spray but controlling it with a progressive controller you might be asking for trouble putting it in underneath there

75-100hp max no progressive control. Think the stealth idea is blown out of the water. Oh well, nice thought while it lasted...

not necessarily want to be sneaky about it, i just like having a clean, factory looking engine bay without hoses and wires running all over the joint. Not to worry, i'll see how it goes. Probably end up as a passing fad, use it for a few drag meets and sell it off ... but i have heard it becomes addictive ...

pretty clean ehh(nitrious set up). the nitrious solenoid was near the ecu. this is back when i had nitrious. since then i have removed it and relocated the battery to the hatch.

CoZZm0 02-07-2006, 10:55 PM Thanks Stratton. I assume you located the nozzles near the join between the plenum and intake runners? or are they just hiding behind the strut brace? can't see the hardlines for the fuel, was it a wet shot?
any pics of the actaul location of the nozzles.
Cheers.
