Starting sunday morning i noticed my car had been sounding different like there was an exhaust on it, then that night it got worse until i find out its a loose header (stock) or something header affiliated. its REALLY loud right now, but am not sure exactly what it is. sounds like theres no header at all.

also, would i need to get it fixed RIGHT away or will it not cause harm?

It won't cause harm, except to your ears and gas mileage. I suspect the primary may have become disconnected where it meets the secondary, that would be my first guess if you had an aftermarket header, such as a Hotshot or Stillen. But it's still possible that could happen with the stock manifold.

Check all of the connections on your exhaust, like 95se-r said it could be your secondary or primary. Just bolt it back up, and enjoy the ride ;)

I had the same thing last spring. I had a hole in the flexpipe. Check it out. I had to get a hotshot to replace the entire header.

Poor Poor me.....:)

I've had the same thing happen to me - twice. I broke two stock exhaust secondaries. They have both broken at the 90 degree bend to go underneath the car where it merges from 2 to 1. I now have a nice pretty header there. :D

Nissan replacement - Not too sure, done under warranty.

Pacesetter - $175 and an extra 7hp!!! Woo Hoo!

Easiest way it find the leak is to crawl around it with a piece of hose to your ear like a stethoscope and listen for the hiss. I was able to use my hand to feel the exhaust leak. I could put my finger in it.

If you have a crack, the tube or hand would work too. Just follow it back up from the cat.

If you find a whole or a crack. Then you need to decide what to do next.....

Whole...dam I can't spell....... hole...... You get it ***....

my friend had this happen to his stock exhaust manifold. ended up being the manifold had a crack in it. cracks can be hard to detect sometimes, especially if it's on the inner side of the exhaust.

if you're strapped for cash you can have my stock header & downpipe.

otherwise, get a header and write it off as "required maintainence"! :D

what do you mean by "required maintainence"? does a b15 stock header fit a b14? i am DEFINITELY strapped for cash and a messed up car is the last thing i need. i dont have much time to fix it before my brother goes back to college on monday and im car incompetent so i couldnt do it alone.

<Foghorn Leghorn> Its a joke son. Man that boy is about as sharp as a bag of wet mice. </Foghorn Leghorn>

What he means it that if you have the cash you can upgrade it. Because if you have a crack in the manifold, I think you would want to take if off anyway to weld it. I don't think they would weld the crack with it installed.

But you have to find out where it is leaking first. Were you able to pinpoint it today?

no i havent looked yet. do i need to take off the heat shield or just jack my car up and follow the exhaust? im not the most knowledgeable about cars so it may be hard for me.
