My friend down the street has an automatic 93.5 G20. It has been acting funny lately. She says, when she presses on the gas, it takes it a while before it actually changes into the next gear, the rpms fly up for a minute and the car goes "vroooooom" then changes to the next gear. It runs like a dog. I have observed a tear in the right front motor mount, so I know that may be why the car vibrates and the engine moves. But, the car has 80k miles. Is there a possibility that her trans filter could need to be changed? I don't know much about autos, but i want to know why her car is messing up. It's been tuned up, wires/plugs/egr cleaned/tb cleaned/cap/rotor..I know it needs a motor mount, the right front is almost shredded looking, heh.

I drove an automatic G20, it was a major dog...make sure the switch for the tranny isn't on power, thers a power/econ swithc I believe...when its in the power mode it will stay in gear longer...also, check the compression if you have access to a compression gauge...as far as running condition, that will tell you a lot, but I can't tell you much about the running condition w/o being there and looking at it...hope I was of some help, I saw that no one had responded...

Sounds like the tranny is slipping. You could drain the tranny and put new tranny fluid in to see if that helps. If that doesnt do it, then it might be time to have it looked at a shop.
Also, see about getting that mount fixed. It will cause a lot of engine movement especially when she is taking off. If it is the right front, that is a liquid filled mount.

Hmm...now that I re-read it I understand where NismoPC is coming from, in that case I would get the transmission flushed..and I'm not sure if it has a filter or not, I know Honda's don't have a filter...the way to check it out would be to go to www.carparts.com and enter the year of the G20 and stuff, and all that, then search for transmission filter, I would if it wasn't going so damn slow...well, I just looked it up and it should be around $20 for a filter and the gasket...you should get it flushed after you install the new filter though...find a shop around there that does that, and yeh change the passenger side motor mount...
