I stopped at a truck stop and had my NX weighed tonight. It weighed 2700 lbs with 4 gallons of gas. Edmunds.com claims a NX2000 should weigh 2461 lbs. The auto trans probably adds some weight as do the t-tops, plus I have a trailer hitch on the car. But I cant see those things adding 239 pounds to the car. Any ideas? Supposedly the scale is certified and guaranteed.

You weren't in it right? lol...

Auto tranny guestimate isn't over 50lbs more....
Gas and the hitch are the only things I can think of... but still not another 50lbs between the two there either... any extra things like a dead body in the trunk????

Alot of estimates of car weight by a manufacturer I can remember seeing has the auto version weigh about 100 pounds more. Take that weight they list add for any power equipment, ac, and/or stereo equipment. I have heard before that the NX is alot heavier than a classic.

Ha Ha Chris! Too funny.

any extra things like a dead body in the trunk????

Do you have a system in your car? Maybe edmunds weighted their car without all four wheels and tire! (just kidding)

Is your car stock aside from the ones you've mentioned? Just curious!

No, I was not in the car and neither were any dead bodies. The car is stock other than the trailer hitch.

Ok so you remove the dead bodies before getting it weighted?

I took mine in December is it weights 1300kg with 2 people of 130kg

that makes 1170 kg and Nissan stats say 1124kg... I had a half-tank of fuel (25 L)

My '92 NX, which is fully loaded, weighed 2,775 lbs w/ me in it. Take out 145lbs and it weighs 2,630 lbs. Thats w/ manual tranny, 1/4 tank of gas and no subwoofer box. Everything else was in though incl. seats, spare tire, carpet, etc.

So if my auto trans and trailer hitch weigh 70 pounds 2700 could be accurate. But that's a heck of a lot higher than the 2450 Nissan claims.

Yeah, but I believe that 2450 weight is base. Maybe even base as in a NX1600? Add glass t-tops, A/C, power steering, power windows, power locks, LSD, bigger tires/wheels and it could (must) add around 200 lbs.

That AC compressor is a beast as well its pretty heavy, but that something that most people deal with cause you know that summa time heat. I've always heard that cars with t tops, convertibles and targa tops tend to way more than the same car without those options.

My '91 weighs 2420 with ~1/4 tank of gas, no A/C, no sunroof, no spare/jack/tools. There's no way an NX2000 weighs 2461. The NX has more glass, and glass is heavier than metal. 2461 sounds almost correct for a base NX1600.

According to Edmunds.com a NX1600 weighs 2350 lbs. A NX2000 is listed at 2461 lbs and a SE-R is listed at 2467 lbs.

But NX has smaller wheels, less sheet metal no real back seat lol...

Hummm I dunno.... I'd say glass is almost the same though..... Because front windshield they both have, side windows ok, rear window, ok the hatch is bigger than the rear window on the classic but not a huge difference there (I've lifted my front windshield and honestly its not THAT heavy). T-Tops I can give you though...

This has been discussed before. The NX is simply a porker, T-tops or not. The 2461lb weight rating is severely optimistic. Shoot, my NX in it's somewhat stripped form (no A/C, no interior) still weighed in at 2490lbs with spare tire and jack in trunk and about 5/8 tank of gas. It's the heaviest of the 2-door SR20-powered cars.

Also, don't forget the bigger front brakes which are also heavier.

it wouldnt be much, but are your replacement tires the smae as the stock diameter/width/height? like, instead of a 50 series, you are running a 55?

ya know, i was setting around yesterday and it came to me...UNDER COATING!! that could be why your NX was a little heavy. that along with tires, etc. may have atributed to your "pudge" :-)

I don't know what you're talking about, but FYI, the car was weighed with the stock 14x6 wheels on Bridgestone RE71, 195/55R-14. Those wheels in my pic are my track-only wheels.

doesnt your NX have that wierd, tar like stuff on underside of it?

I had the NX weighed (on calibrated corner scales) a good while back it came to 2570 with no t-tops a half tank of gas and my street tires (16x7 konig villians) that was before the turbo. other than that the car was in virtually stock form, no gutting, and nothing to add weight (it did have the jack and spare in it)......
and its a manual......

Thats all the details I can remember.....

With all the supposed weight difference between a classic and NX me and my boy ran neck and neck all the time with the same setup I/H/E and he had no ac compressor, no cruise control, it wasn't until the pulleys that he started pulling past me and it's not by alot.I think NXs would hold there own against any SR20 powered car in all aspects of racing. Does that weight difference matter. Not to start any flames though just a simple question.
