While I'm (still) in the process of swapping in a JDM engine, thought I would freshen up the 1-2 shift synchros and check for possible future problems w/ the 5th gear. After I got the tranny apart, found out that Nissan has redesigned one of the synchros so instead of $70 for two brass synchro rings, the total would be more like $300 for 1st gear, hub, and slider. Here's my question. Is there anyway I can find an NOS synchro or a like new used one? I don't really want to buy a JDM transmission because I can't be sure it's any better than the one I've got.

See "wanted" in the classifieds section, there might be someone who can pop off a set for you.

Also, check with napa etc., they might be able to snag the old parts.

edit: I know I sold two full gear stacks and a LSD to someone fairly cheap, maybe he could hook you up.
