Is there any software out there to put the car in timing mode? Or is there some commands I can send to do it?

Do you have a Consult type interface box? If so, download the freeware version of Conzult, it'll do it.

Chris,

Yes I have Calum's interface box and Conzult Freeware, just don't see timing mode, I don't even see it as part of the Greyed out options. I did try the "base idle adjustment", but my timing was still bouncing around all over the place.

Base Idle adjustment IS timing mode as far as I know. As a matter of fact, I have the pay version of Conzult as well as the freeware version, and I that's what I use to set the timing on my turbo, and it stays rock solid. I don't know why yours is still jumping.

Hmm, I'll try it again tonight to see what happens. Maybe my idle is too high to set timing (It is at 850 according to Conzult). I have it that high to smooth out the engine since I have the Prothane mount set. My TPS is at .38V as well, so maybe I'll try adjusting those in spec first.

Oh, Chris, do you think the pay version of Conzult is worth the cost?

At some point (maybe over 1500 or 2000rpm), it will jump out of timing mode. Try cranking the idle down at least temporarily when you set the timing.

Shit, I don't remember what the differences are between the packages, or how much I paid for it.

When in idle /timing mode the car should be idling at 750...if not adjust it to 750. When it goes into that mode you should hear the idle drop and become very steady. The timing should be 15 degrees and rock steady ( unless tweaked already ) Signs that it is not properly in idle/timing mode are unstable timing or steady but blips once or twice a second, generally retarding.

I used to get the blips doing the TPS / rev 3x 3000 route, but with Nissan Datascan, it is rock solid.
